Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. This week there's been a small increase in the number of image posts, so it would seem to me. I've spent about the last 40 minutes going through and trying to pick one. I have chosen this image by Big V - the contrast between what's happening in the sky (over quite a lengthy period of time) and the foreground is fantastic. To me, this photo is quite mesmorising and 'out of the ordinary'! Well done Big V! The original image: And the original thread here.

Thanks Geoff- this is something I have been working towards for a long time now. It is fitting that I was able to achieve this result on the same night as Earth Hour. In the past the environment has worked against me getting such a long exposure, dew, rising moon, turbulent atmosphere, cloud etc etc. Finally I had pefect conditions and was able to enjoy those with some fellow dedicated astronomers - making the end result just that a bit more special for me.
