Re: The Hot Shoe Diaries - Joe McNallyHi
Has anyone received their copy yet? If so what do you think of it. Thanks Jeff
Re: The Hot Shoe Diaries - Joe McNally
Actually their online store says:
This usually means they don't have stock, but are happy to order it in for you, & don't expect any long delays e.g. Out of Print. Given what Fishpond are saying, I suspect 6 weeks is more likely than 1 week. I ordered mine from Fishpond with free postage:

Re: The Hot Shoe Diaries - Joe McNallyHi,
I have my copy in my hot little hands and although I'm only 17 pages into it I Like it . A quick flick through the photos and I'm certain I will learn something I can then apply, at the very least there are a few things quite refreshing I am goint to try and replicate in my own style. I did order from Dymocks last Wednesday and it was in store Saturday - there were also a couple on the shelf when I dropped in. DebT DebT

Re: The Hot Shoe Diaries - Joe McNallyIs there anyone interested in selling me their copy second hand after they have finished reading it, Cant find a copy on Ebay, and being 17, dont have a credit card to buy it on Dymocks or Amazon

Re: The Hot Shoe Diaries - Joe McNally
Fishpond, where I ordered mine allows for direct debit. For reasons beyond my ken, they are not releasing it until 28 April though. http://www.fishpond.com.au/ I will be in the city on Saturday. If I see it in Dymocks there, I will probably buy it & cancel my order on Fishpond. Greg

Re: The Hot Shoe Diaries - Joe McNallyGreg - I have ordered a copy for a friend via fishpond.com.au and this is quoted on the order, quote ' The Hot Shoe Diaries is not yet published. Your pre-order has been recorded. This title is due for publication on 28 March 2009. Your copy has been reserved and we will ship it to you as soon as possible after the release date. Please note that pre-order publication dates may vary slightly as the publication nears release. We estimate this order for The Hot Shoe Diaries: Creative Applications of Small Flashes will arrive at the Fishpond.com.au warehouse by 11/04/09. Any changes to this date will be posted here.' unquote.
I think you might mean the 28 March instead of 28 April, 2009.

from teh "authors@google" series. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Av6gCq_awQ its a long video and he starts off a little nervy but he is such a legend. loved what he did with film let alone with strobes and a D3. EM1 l 7.5 l 12-40 l 14 l 17 l 25 l 45 l 60 l 75 l AW1 l V3

Oh that is awesome, a good watch, though the HD is a little pricy on the bandwidth , downloading the SD for ipod now, looks like one to curl up and watch before a shoot Thanks for that Lots of goodies really, lets just say my lenses stretch from 10mm to 500mm with plenty of light at 5fps

Re: The Hot Shoe Diaries - Joe McNally
I wish. My first post above contains a cut & paste from fishpond order status. It clearly states 28 APril. When I saw others were getting theirs locally earlier, I queried fishpond. They confirmed 28 April I ordered on 24th March. Maybe they have allocated their entire 28Mar shipment, and I am down for the 28Apr shipment. Who knows? This is the first time I have used Fishpond, and may well be the last, though to be fair to them, the other books I ordered at the same time have arrived in good order. Greg

Re: The Hot Shoe Diaries - Joe McNallyI also have mine pre-ordered on Fishpond - the detail on my order says publication 28th March (at $35) while the link to the book itself on their site says publishing date 28th April (at $49.73)! The local Dymocks don't stock it - I also rang Angus and Robertson and he checked their computer and also said publishing date was 28th April.
Whatever it is, hopefully it will be worth the wait. Canon 7D | Canon 350D | G5 | S95 | 24-70mm f2.8L | 50mm f1.8 II | 70-200mm f2.8L USM | 430EX II | Strobist gear
Re: The Hot Shoe Diaries - Joe McNallyAbout to pick up one from Dymocks! Thanks DebT...

Re: The Hot Shoe Diaries - Joe McNallyI got mine yesterday, and the short bit I've flicked through its even better then "The Moment It Clicks" and thats one of my favourite photography books. I'm looking forward to many re-reads, should be a great resource /inspiration.
Re: The Hot Shoe Diaries - Joe McNallyPicked up the last book from Dymocks (Broadway). My grammar was corrected and it was pointed out that the title is "The Hotshoe Diaries" NOT "Hotshoe Diaries". Apparently their search engine didn't see any books named "Hotshoe diaries"!
The first 15 pages are good... I didn't realise that Joe shot mostly on A priority with multiple CLS flashes! Interesting... I have started to try this on my 430EX on camera....
Re: The Hot Shoe Diaries - Joe McNallyHow useful is it for non-Nikon owners?
Canon EOS 50D, 24-70 f2.8L, 100-300 f5.6L, 580EX II
Re: The Hot Shoe Diaries - Joe McNallyI am a Canon Girl and enjoyed the read, while Joe does have Nikon I didn't have any issue finding it relevant and amuzing. Despite common belief's and friendly rivally it's not too difficult to find a Nikon alternative to his comments.

Re: The Hot Shoe Diaries - Joe McNallyIt's still useful for Canon users. It's more the thought process behind the photo rather than how CLS works... But then one could use 580EX and other canon flashes to achieve a similar flash setup....
