Auction in Sydney for camera equipmentHey guys,
I stumbled across this online while looking for second hand camera equipment...pity it's in Sydney so no good to me, but thought maybe one of you Sydneysiders might want to attend and see if anything grabs your fancy? Most of the stuff being sold is a bit err, but there's quite a few Nikon lenses listed and a few Canon L lenses (that 85mm f1.2L had me drooling!) in case they take your fancy. http://www.lawsons.com.au/default.html Hope someone finds this handy "The rarest thing in the world is a woman who is pleased with photographs of herself" - Elizabeth Metcalf

Re: Auction in Sydney for camera equipmentCertainly some interesting things there. Lots of stuff that, I guess, has been sitting in a storeroom for many years.
And a couple of very rare items too. Like the Hanimex lenses for Nikon OM. These are very, very rare items. g.

Re: Auction in Sydney for camera equipmentHehe, let me know if you guys end up going, would love to hear how it went (and what the prices ended up being like!). Meanwhile, I'm still searching for a secondhand sigma 10-20mm ex with a canon mount

Re: Auction in Sydney for camera equipment
holy crapola, i thought 10% was steep... I will pass on bidding now methinks...although I really wanted a box full of the same filter I would be keen to hear the final prices if anyone does go and gets something. gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Auction in Sydney for camera equipmentBloody hell - 20%?! I missed that bit! Still could be worth going - who knows how many people will turn up, and if you calculate your max bid beforehand (taking the 20% hike into mind), you'll know where your happy limit is
Grr. Wish we had some decent auction houses here in Melbourne, but I can't seem to find any that aren't for factory/commercial goods or antiques "The rarest thing in the world is a woman who is pleased with photographs of herself" - Elizabeth Metcalf

Re: Auction in Sydney for camera equipmentI happened to win a few items from this. Not a bad buy for some of them. I'm a bit stuck now though. I didn't get notified of winning until about 15 minutes ago, and am now told i need to pick them up by tomorrow at 5pm. Not going to happen concidering i am in Canberra! If i was told on the weekend it wouldn't have been a problem, but it's a bit hard for me to get away from a new job to get there now.
Is ther anyone near Annandale? The pickup spot is in The Crescent if that makes any difference? It would really help me out if someone could pick it up while i get a chance to come and get it! Thanks!
Re: Auction in Sydney for camera equipmentNot (yet) sure of where The Crescent in Annandale is, but we may be able to help.
First of all, what did you bid for, and what did you win? Has the stuff been paid for yet, and how much/how big are the boxes ? My car is very small ... g.

Re: Auction in Sydney for camera equipmentI won a bunch of photo albums and frams, and also a sigma 12-24mm lens. There are quite a few photo albums, but they should be fairly easy to pack i'd assume. Obviously the lens is what i'd like to pick up most of all. The albums are mainly for friends and family, so they aren't super important (nor did they cost very much).
Everything is fully paid for, but they would like a print out of the bank deposit so i'd have to email that through, or email it to them tomorrow. I bid for lots more than i won don't worry, but i basically put in really small bids on lots of things and happened to pick up a the lens. I'd be eternally grateful if someone could pick this up!
Re: Auction in Sydney for camera equipment BTW, if anyone wants to know what stuff went for in the end, click here : http://www.lawsons.com.au/asp/realtimer ... st=7667+++
I'm cut that I didn't get there... teleconverters went cheap Canon 50D - EF-S 17-55 f2.8 IS - EF 100-400 L - EF 50 f1.8
Re: Auction in Sydney for camera equipment
My concern is that the frames and albums will be bulky. I will already have some stuff in the car - that needs to be in the boot - and anything bulky will be likely to be problematic. Is anyone else able to help? Were the conditions for pickup/collection made clear by Lawson's before the sale? g.

Re: Auction in Sydney for camera equipment
Yes they were. Its why I decided not to bid on anything as I had no chance of getting there. The clause said if you win and don't pick up they keep the goods and the money & reserved the right to sue for costs involved in storage/disposal. Greg

Re: Auction in Sydney for camera equipmentI managed to score a nice desley trolley bag for $132, RRP is about $290, so I'm pretty happy with that.
I'll be going at 8 when they open, so if you can call me before hand to sort out the details, lot number, payment etc. we can arrange that. I will be in a real hurry though, passing through on my way to work. My number is 0421579692, email me on jon [at] photoaffinity.com.au with the payment slip tonight if you like. Cheers, Jon
Re: Auction in Sydney for camera equipmentUnfortunately i didn't get to look at this thread last night! I got caught up with work. Yes they made it clear about pickup, but when i emailed them they also said i would be contacted immediently if i had a winning bid. However it wasn't until yesterday that i was called and told. I had the whole weekend off so getting there wasn't an issue at all. Now it's turned into a bit of a hassle.
If anyone else could help, that would be great. I will be calling Lawsons very soon to see if i can arrange anything else.
Re: Auction in Sydney for camera equipment
Make sure that you point this out to them. g.

Re: Auction in Sydney for camera equipment
I rang them and talked to them a few minutes ago and mentioned that and they gave me some extra time, so I've arranged pickup now. Thanks for everyone that offered to help! I really appreciate it. If anyone ever needs the same help from Canberra, i'd be more than happy to help
