Escapee from Adelaide ZooYou may have heard that this morning an Orang-utan escaped from her enclosure at the Adelaide Zoo.
I wasn't there for the escape (missed photo opp), but I was there about half an hour earlier to see her planning her getaway. Here's the offender: These shots are mostly full DX frame using 150mm macro lens. We were asked to evacuate, so I didn't get many shots today. Re: Escapee from Adelaide ZooSo, did she follow you home? The third image strongly suggests that this may have been the case.
Love em all; great color, pose, composition, light, and sharpness. g.

Re: Escapee from Adelaide Zoothe eye contact is superb and very intimate. i'm also stunned at the very human like expressions that are rarely captured. best "ape" pics i've ever seen on the board, period. excellent job.

Re: Escapee from Adelaide Zoo
Great photos by the way. I like the yellow green cast on these.
Re: Escapee from Adelaide ZooThank you all.
Given it's mother's day, I expect she just wanted to go out somewhere nice...
This is certainly the best sequence of Ape shots I've taken. I think this is due to her only being about 1.5m from my lens without any glass/wire interference. It made for a great location. But it turns out she wasn't meant to be there!
It is possible there is a slight yellow/green cast. But I didn't want to go too far the other way because the environment was certainly very green and there is a slight yellow to her hair. I could make her face hair whiter, but I don't think that would work for the rest of the image.
I think Fozzie's affections lie elsewhere at the Zoo... Daniel Nikon D4, D2Xs, D70, Nikkors and Sigmas lenses from 10 to 400mm

Re: Escapee from Adelaide ZooGreat capture of the cleaver little girl,
remembering that the male died just a couple of weeks ago she is probably very lonely ... From the eyes she was making at you I'd say you are more likely to have captured her heart than 'those cat people' Absolutely lovely expressions - thanks for sharing DebT DebT

Re: Escapee from Adelaide ZooThanks Deb.
The keepers suggested that on tonight's news. She probably went looking for him.
She did seem more expressive than previous times. Daniel Nikon D4, D2Xs, D70, Nikkors and Sigmas lenses from 10 to 400mm

Re: Escapee from Adelaide ZooGreat pics of her I never got to see her even though I was there two days. She has a lovely expressive face.
Re: Escapee from Adelaide ZooVery nice photos. I like you composition and strong colours.
Re: Escapee from Adelaide Zoo
Thanks. She is a hard one to capture. When it's a sunny day it's hard to get good detail around the eyes.
Thanks. The composition was all due to her posing, nothing to do with me. Daniel Nikon D4, D2Xs, D70, Nikkors and Sigmas lenses from 10 to 400mm
