Otters and more from MullHi all, I've just got back from my trip to Mull. Not the best visit in terms of weather (5 out of 7 days with full on wind and rain) but I managed to get a few shots in the brief spells of ok weather - mostly stock shots, although my main species to photograph was Otters and in that respect the holiday was a great success!
You can read more about my Otter encounters and see more pictures HERE D3 with 600 + 1.4x, 1/80 second with beanbag from car window. And you can see a few more shots of other species and read a little about the week in general HERE.
Re: Otters and more from MullThanks for sharing some more beautiful shots of British wildlife.
The otters in particular are stunning, and the adverse weather enhances the shots for me. I loved the reading the story of your journey too. Nikon D700 D300
Re: Otters and more from MullRichard,
I really enjoy your blog, for both the wonderful pictures and the great stories, I was literally cringing at the thougth of your new tripod crashing on the rocks, but I'm glad you aren't sharing pictures of the inside elements of a 600mm prime. Getting so close to the otter, and having it seemingly unaware of you, and just doing its thing is incredible.
Re: Otters and more from MullRichard
I thought the otter in the rain on the seaweed was particularly evocative - the one you offered the larger image of. I bet that makes a great print. The whole account was very well done too, an enticing tempter for if I ever get there.... Regards, Murray
Re: Otters and more from Mullanother great series and an excellent blog..... keep them coming

Re: Otters and more from MullGreat shots and i like the third (maybe some sort of gannett?) the best.
Maybe try a tight crop on his head/face as there is such strong eye contact. robert Robert

Re: Otters and more from Mull
I'm with Robert on this, although I think that that perhaps back off on the sharpening just a tad: there appears to be some haloing along the lower edge of the bird's body. I also like the last image very much as well. It's very well composed, and great use of the shutter to capture the falling rain in the background, while still getting a sharp image of the bird on the wire/ g.

Re: Otters and more from MullExcellent images, specially the 3rd and 4th.
Re: Otters and more from MullThanks for all the kind comments everyone
Regarding the Gannet, I think your right, I didn't spot the slight halo before!! The problem with this image as well is it's just lost on the web size and all the detail is hidden. But as the shot was about the shape of the bird in the air, cropping in tighter to see the face detail didn't seem right so I left it how it is. The print will look nice though, thats for sure
