Exclusive access - F1I have been granted exclusive access to one of the F1 drivers (you can guess which). This is the only shot I can post. C&C appreciated. Seriously, how do you avoid hotspots on a shot like this (flash behind and left of subject).
(Can you tell I am a parent to young children?) Regards, Patrick
Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935. Our mug is smug
Re: Exclusive access - F1no pix showing ...... now it is, I like it, good lighting.....
Cheers ....bp....
Difference between a good street photographer and a great street photographer.... Removing objects that do not belong... happy for the comments, but .....Please DO NOT edit my image..... http://bigpix.smugmug.com Forever changing
Re: Exclusive access - F1HI I suggest to place the car on a raised box to isolate it from the backround-use two lights or a light and a reflector-if a hot shoe flash then turn it down( even use tissue over the flash if you dont have a soft box--cheers inmotion
Re: Exclusive access - F1Or make Andrew's (ATJ) DIY softbox. (Search!) It will work a treat for this.

It's easy to be good... when there is nothing else to do
Re: Exclusive access - F1Thanks for the comments. I also used a softbox about 5x8 inches big on the flash (camera left) and a white reflector front camera right. Behind me was an open door letting in some sunlight, although not a great deal.
I believe a raised box for the car wouldn't be as effective as it would have been in the shot. The other comment I will make is that I had a very limited time frame - I had a 1 week old who was due to wake at any moment and a 2 year old due back from the shops imminently. Without these pressures, I would have set up a more 'thorough' lighting arrangement. Regards, Patrick

Re: Exclusive access - F1Patrick if you diffuse the softbox again with a diffusion panel (ie double diffuse) it may help to get rid of the hot spots.
Otherwise perhaps a light tent of the sorts may be the answer. I am not sure how you'd preserve the background in that case
