Fastpack 350 setup options

Postby grivai on Sat May 23, 2009 11:50 am

Hey all,

Does anyone using a Fastpack 350 or 250 have the same issue as I do, in that they cannot take both a 70-200 and a normal zoom (17-55 or similar) unless only the 70-200 is attached to the camera body (d300 in my case)?

I forsee the 17-55 being the lens I would most like to have 'at the ready' if I need to get my camera out quickly, but the way the bag is setup with the padding etc. seems to preclude this from happening, as the 70-200 wont fit unless it is attached, taking up the entire middle section. If I want the 17-55 attached, I can't find a happy place for the 70-200...so the fastpack suddenly becomes a bit less fast. :( . The fat lens hoods dont help much, but I do tend to use them so would like to be able to keep them on, reversed.

Every product shot or photo I see or have searched shows the camera in the middle with a 70-200 sized lens attached, nothing smaller.

I did come across a pretty good youtube video of a guy who has a couple of ways of attaching a tripod to these bags though which was handy!

If anyone has worked out a certain padding / positioning arrangement to overcome this issue then please let me know, photos would be great too!

Thanks :D

I use a Fastpack 250 as my day to day bag and have a very similar dilemma (24-70 or Tamron 17-50 + D300) but i would have imagined that if you place the D300 on its side you would be able to slide the 70-200 above it into the top 1/3 of the camera section in the 350. Otherwise you can always carry the 70-200 in its soft case in the upper compartment (that is what I do).
