Now how do I clean my camera

Well I took the kids caving on the weekend.
The Photography was poor.
Too scared too ruin the gear, too dusty, too wet, too, humid, too dry, to high, too low, too much guiding and worrying about kids, etc etc

A couple of shots below for comment, but the real question is

HOW DO I CLEAN MY CAMERA?

It at turns went thru, talcum powder dust, mud, "cement bag" (location name) dust, and wet areas, now it is both covered in mud and dry dust!!!!
Vaccumed with bristle brush.
What it needs is a bucket of hot soapy water and a scrubbing brush, any better ideas?

Hey Justin made it

The roof height meant that all shots here were with the camera (with flash) held portrait as camera and flash was higher that the floor to roof height! I am sure that did not hurt this much 20 years ago!

Certainly looks like a fun weekend. #1 and #3 are my favourite here.

As for cleaning your camera, I was watching a video on how Moose Peterson cleans his gear, Nikon gear, an old clean white t-shirt seems to do it. If more dirty, lens cleaner with some lens tissue to do a bit more heavy duty cleaning. Just happen to browse a Nikon lens manual and they also recommend the lens cleaner bit.

HTH,

André

I will agree with that, soft brush, then damp cloth for the body, for the lens a rocket blower then some lens cleaner + lens tissue

 my hat goes off to ya and your kids for that effort!

how long do you have to wait until your eyes re-adjust from the flash ?

#3 really shows the action and the tight, tight space!

A small bristle paint brush to get the dust off then a wipe down with a damp cloth is all that should be needed. The inside of the camera is a different story....use a Giotto blower and hope that dust does not get on your sensor.

What the guys have said on cleaning all makes sense.

The reason for my reply is more in the ‘If you do it again’ category. Why not invest in a marine bag (EWA) to protect your gear in dodgy environments

Now considdering where you are about to take your gear this should have been a breeze.

Nice pics of Justin. No, it was not this hard 20 years ago. :violin: At least you do not have to carry him any more.

Sounds like good advise all round.
