Lastolite ezybox hotshoeWondering if anyone has any experience with one of these hotshoe EZYboxes. I have recently read through the Hot Shoe Diaries book and it has got me thinking about potential uses for something like this. Currently I shoot an SB800 through a diffuser but I think this softbox unit, especially on a handle would be cool.
http://www.lastolite.com/ezybox-hotshoe-kits.php# Seems to be only one distributor in Australia. Dang! Also wondering if anyone seen any similar or cheaper knock offs? Cheers Steve Steve (Nikon D200/D700)

That looks like a very useful addition to the gadget arsenal. I like! Regards

Re: Lastolite ezybox hotshoedragonimage sell something similar and actually it has a standard S type ring mount so you can mount softboxes, grids and any other accessories to it. it looked pricey when i first saw it but the flexibility the s ring gives you is a great idea. kayell sell the lastolite one.

Re: Lastolite ezybox hotshoeI've ordered this (at PMA), and I'll let you know what it is like when I get a chance to play with it.
Re: Lastolite ezybox hotshoe
Thanks tiberius. Do you remember how much it was? Did you get the head only or the boom aswell ? Steve (Nikon D200/D700)

Re: Lastolite ezybox hotshoe
I couldnt quite figure out the Kayell website. The soft box I want is $220, but i dont think that is a kit (box only). There seems to be a heap of accessories required, handle and tilthead and bracket, and hot shoe mount, so im not sure how much it all works out to be. I cant link directly to their page but you can get to it from here http://www.kayellaustralia.com.au/photosite/ Steve (Nikon D200/D700)

Hey Rob - If you care to share where you got it and how much its then that would be great. Does the softbox come with a hot shoe mount or did you have to buy that one separately? Steve (Nikon D200/D700)

Re: Lastolite ezybox hotshoeIve had one for over a year now - I originally bought it from B&H. It recently had some problems with the metal ribbing twisting so it didnt popup propely and Kayell (local Australian lastolite distributor) replaced it for free.
Highly recommended - I love the portability of it and how it collapses. I use it most often on a monopod with speedlight, pocketwizard and an external CP-E4 battery pack. Check out my flickr stream - most of the ones in this set here have been taken on location with the 40x40cm version. Being a full time wedding tog - Ive absolutely flogged mine and its lasted. Highly recommended. Last edited by jdear on Tue Jun 30, 2009 12:51 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Lastolite ezybox hotshoewilly, i may be wrong but i was under the impression that all you get is the box and the bracket. you would need to buy a hotshoe and a pivot head if that was something you needed.

Re: Lastolite ezybox hotshoeI got the ezybox kit - which has everything you need to stick it on a tripod / monopod and attach your flash to.
Re: Lastolite ezybox hotshoe
including a pivot head or is that a fixed head with no tilt adjustment ? EM1 l 7.5 l 12-40 l 14 l 17 l 25 l 45 l 60 l 75 l AW1 l V3
Re: Lastolite ezybox hotshoeMy kit didnt come with a pivot head, but I wouldnt use it if it did. The monopod is just angled when someone holds it, and when it sits on a tripod the head tilts for it
Not sure if the newer kits ship with one or not, but probably worthwhile checking out - cheers rooz

steve i purchased mine from these guys and it does come with a hotshoe mount but i soon pissed that off cause i didnt have much confidence in it, if my memory is correct i believe i paid $350 for it http://shop.cameraelectronic.com.au/E5Product.cgi?Code=870862009653
Re: Lastolite ezybox hotshoeI had a shoot with my softbox yesterday, and it worked wonderfully. I was shooting a 430EX through it, and I had to fire it on full, but it gave a lovely soft light. I'm very happy with it.
Re: Lastolite ezybox hotshoe

Re: Lastolite ezybox hotshoeHere's a shot I took with the softbox. Softbox is off to camera right in front of the model, bare bulb flash is off to camera left, behind the model. Both flashes were 430EX mk IIs.
