One night @ Storey Bridge

Well I've played with this a few times trying to get the exposure and colour right, it was coming out good at home but at work was looking a dark. Anyway shot one night after work.

Are any of your monitors calibrated? In order to do any sort of PP, it's essential that you calibrate your systems. Otherwise, you will not be able to get reproducable, reliable results.

Only as good as I can get with Adobe Gamma. I'm aware it's a problem at the moment. I do need to try and pick up a spyder or something it's just pulling the funds together to make that possible, plus there are many more things I'd sooner get such as a wide angle lens or flash etc...

Out of curiosity, or atleast so I can tell which of the two monitors is closer, are you still seeing some colour down around horizon level behind the buildings gary?

Behind the buildings, in the background? Pretty dark to me, and - possibly more relevant - looking at the area below the bridge pylon on the left, that's probably an area where I might be trying to pull more detail from.

I suspect that, from looking at this area, it may be a tad underexposed as well. And perhaps that is something that you may need to live with, given that the rest of the image looks pretty good in that context.

Or maybe consider HDR.

Ok I've tweaked my monitor at home abit more (I think it's the one that was off) and tried to pull a little more detail out. How is this?

I think I'm loosing a little range when I export to JPEG from LR but I feel looking at it now that it's better. I know I'm not going to pull heaps of detail out of the dark areas but it's not so dark now.
