Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

probably a good idea to stay on the beach, the sea looked pretty angry that day

Nice photo... It needs a bit more contrast and has so many possibilities.. Here is what I saw in it [Please let me know if you want me to take it down]

No problem surenj, always good to see other points of view.... very nice post processing but I feel it takes away from the original mood, which is pretty dark... I will have another go at it later. in the mean time feel free to reprocess

What would David Hill do? Probably would have used more light to create more darkness.

I have to say that although the original image has a lot of potential I have to apologize Surenj as neither of your reworks do anything for me....

The original image had a moody, brooding feel to me, with the two figures on the beach contrasting the size and power that the angry sea. The first rework tries to change this feel to convey a warm sunny day...which does not fit with the brooding sea...

The second rework is just not to my taste!

Try a contrasty B&W conversion with a soft vignette (I am not 100% about the vignette though) and if you can maybe have a go at trying to see if there is any more cloud detail to recover...but I suspect there may not be much....

I like the original - conveys the power of the sea.

Yes I did Cameron, but I threw it away! I don't mind tinkling with other people's photos if I think it's helping someone to improve [which includes myself]. But there has to be line drawn somewhere. The original poster has posted one image...two posts...while I am posting two images...three posts.... Hmm...maybe not a good idea.

Just did the same...I went as far as to add a bit of film grain and stopped before adding vignette....I think it wont need it...but have a play with it and see what you think for yourself Francis....it is your picture at the end of the day
