Sydney - Minimeet and photoshoot July 25

Postby gstark on Sun Jul 19, 2009 6:35 pm

On Saturday next, Fozzie, from Adelaide, is going to be in town, so I'm proposing a luncheon minimeet to catch up with one of our favourite Aldilaideans.

Sorry, Adelaideans. :)

He'll be staying on the lower north shore, and so I'm suggesting one of the cafes in Cammeray. There's a large-ish one on the left, in the main shopping strip as you head north, and I'm thinking that midday there should work nicely. If there are issues, the shopping strip is all of two blocks long, and I'm sure that we'll be able to get together without too much hassle.

Following that .... there's the beautiful old suspension bridge, just a short walk north of the shopping strip. It is one of Sydney's most photogenic bridges, and I've been wanting to do a shoot there for about a year ... so now this is happening as well.

Latestayers could even take a wander down to Tunks Park for some great doggie or boat shots: Tunks is a free-range dog walking zone, and the bay has a vista of resting yachts.

So please note your interest below.

Gary & Foz,

Count me in. I'm within "walking distance", and I too have been going over the Long Gully Bridge in Northbridge for over a year, thinking I need to shoot it. Off-topic a bit, but there is talk of re-fitting the bridge with a fence, in light of some recent "incidents".

A link to the RTA page if anyone's interested in the history... here

At this stage I'm a "hope to be there", but can't confirm yet. Would be nice to catch up with Fozzi.

I am tentative - may take the big little fella.

And don't the yocals love that! The security guards on the bridge are a lovely sight.

If you have a high-performance car, the drive from the bridge down to Tunks is great! You may only get to do it once as you will be competing against unnecessary 4WDs.

The aquaduct down in the park would make for some great shots.

I know.

What a bloody abomination that will be.

Pitiful. Who's doing it? Genya's posse?

Yes to both of those statements. The run up the hill can be fun too ... watching those great hulking PsOS wallowing all over the corners as they struggle to remain shiny side up.

Hope you enjoy Sydney Fozzie, unfortunately I will be working on Saturday. Gary the cafe/restuarant is Credo.

The RTA has charged itself with needing and erecting the fence, hopefully it wont go ahead. I would think fencing it will only encourage people to go to Roseville Bridge.

I am now 90% certain that I may be able to come. I may be a little late as the big fella has a sleep around late morning/midday.

Another good spot for some photos is St Thomas park (not named after my other son who is not, yet, a saint). Plenty of tombstones.

Thanx, Glen. Shame you can't make it.

I'm surprised that they don't set up a speed camera down in Tunks Park, pointing upwards at the bridge. That would help them to either raise more money, or else stop people who don't want to get caught in another pointless speed trap.

So, my only variable is Alex's sleeping time - it is possible he will have an early sleep and wake up around noon. Cammers is only a 5 min walk from home and I have the number for Mr Stark's mobile telephony device so will be able to contact youse all if I am running really late.

See ya all tomorrow.
