First location fungi

...... I am such a novice when it comes to macro on location. Some one forgot to tell me how much exercise you get looking for fungi

Well the weather has been warm and not much rain, and not a good fungi growing time. Anyway, went off in search of fungi and to test the new setup. I was lucy to find a few pieces as it has been quite warm where I live. My macro setup worked a treat, just used the 105 Nikon macro on the below, and a shutter release is a must. All images full frame........

I know the next 2 are quite common, great to test the macro setup on location

you will have to trim down your avatar to match at this rate

I really like the first, even if it is a run-of-the-mill fungi, the composition with the contrasting brillant colours does it for me! Did you use the extension tubes?

just shot with the D300 and 105 Macro, all on manual. I was stopped well down to pull all into focus.

..... I will be looking at Helicon focus program. Just the thing for macro's and a new learning curve....

....... off to spend an hour on the exercise bike....... I am lying, another Red and light the BBQ

Let it be said, I am not a fan of fungi! .......but these shots are well done, did you use much PS on the posted images? and what eqipment was used?

....... equiptment as above.... and ACR in PSCS3..... all full frame image's

Oh and you need to carry plenty of gear out with you while doing in situ macro as well Bernie. Just to make sure we are working hard for our shots.

I really like the last two. Very clean and clear. They look to be a puff ball just bursting. Great shots.

On my monitor it appears that you have the same hassel that I do trying to get oranges to come out well under natural light. Or any other light for that matter. I tend to under expose these and yellows so that I have better rendidition of colour.

Keep the macro's comming please.

The Fungi Map project is attempting to map locations of Australian's various fungi areas and if you are interested you can report fungi discoveries to be put on a map.

Two years ago, I found a stinkhorn fungi on our property and there is now a dot on the map showing where it was reported.

...... thanks Graham..... fungi is all new to me and thanks for the heads up on above..... I have seen some great pixs of fungi, all I need to do is get to find some more.... soon as my focus rail arrives
