Get behind the Forum dinner

Postby Matt. K on Sun Jul 26, 2009 9:55 pm

I notice that it's the same dedicated members making the effort to attend the forums anniversary dinner again. How about some of you forum users who enjoy the site but don't normally attend the mini-meets and shoots taking the plunge? You are all most welcome and you'll get to talk photography, play with toys and enjoy a great meal at the same time. It is your forum and if you put a little into it then you will reap more pleasure from the experience. You'll also meet new friends (and who has enough of those?) and who knows....you might even discover that it's fun participating.....unlike, for instance, mowing the lawn or going to the dentist. What better way to deepen your involvement in photography than dining with 20 or 30 active pro , semi pro, retired pro and keen amateur photographers whilst breaking bread and drinking wine? So get involved and help make the forum more than just an electronic message board for it has never been just that.
Regards

Is that anything like "Get behind me Satan"? :P

I agree with Matt's sentiments here. Come and meet the faces behind the bits and bytes. You'll get to know people better.

For example, take Gary. No, please take Gary. He comes across on the forum as a grumpy old man. When you meet him in person you'll realise how wrong you were. He's actually a very grumpy old man - but at least he smiles.

Matt,

Hear Hear!

Hoping to see some new faces etc.

Maybe we can re-review the restaurant for eatability. Perhaps we could improve on the ratings?

Not wishing to get too far on-topic, but we look like definite attendees at the dinner. We may be a touch late as I will have to read 3 books to Alex before bedtime, which can take a little while. :D

Can't financial advisers make 2 seem like 3? You guys are good with numbers.

Sounds like you need to record some talking books and have the babysitter play them.

Or you could make sure they are short books. e.g. "George W Bush's Great Achievements". "How to show compassion to asylum seekers" by Kevin Andrews.

No, the other way around - we make 3 become 2 very quickly, and take a percentage along the way. :biglaugh:

YOu missed his point.
Financial advisers make 2 SEEM like 3 while in fact making it 1 less commission (on 4)

You obviously have no idea:

We take your 1 out of super, get you to borrow another 1 against your home, use these 2 to borrow another 4 from a margin loan on the basis that markets only ever go up, charge 7% on the 6 and then blame the banks when it all goes to sh$t! Or is that just a Storm in a teacup? :biglaugh:

But of course this is quite correct.... markets only ever go up... just sometimes it's up in smoke.
Even so... it really is just a matter of talking about the right market, and if all else fails, just turn the graph around.

I'd attend but I'll be making my way back from my Trans-Pacific excursion which begins tomorrow. With luck, I'll have a heap of pics to show you all how they live on the "other side of the world".

Enjoy!
