Once was a brewery - Silverton (pic added)All that remains of the 19th century Lion Brewery in Silverton. Though it looks like a kiln, a local business manager is checking on exactly what part of the old brewery it is.

gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Once was a brewery - Silverton

Re: Once was a brewery - SilvertonSomething gives me the impression you guys like a beer? ...
Thanks gerry. The beer was nice and cold at the pub.
Thanks gstark. Pizza oven? Now there's an idea for the next camping trip to Silverton. I wouldn't have known the subject existed if not for walking into the bush chasing the light for shots of another building. The place is full of ruins a little off the beaten track and I would have loved to spend a further week around the town. I'll find an excuse to go back and go missing every afternoon/evening.
Thanks jaff. The light in the outback is special. Maybe a remembrance toast (or 3) is in order during the next visit? After all, we should endeavour to give due respect to our history.
Re: Once was a brewery - SilvertonAfter editing more shots from Silverton I think I prefer this variation of of the Brewery ruins. Shot with a slightly different composition ten mins later in more subdued light, with the sun filtered by light cloud.
Opinions appreciated!
Re: Once was a brewery - SilvertonI like the 3rd shot best.
It could be the oven where they roasted the barley to get malted barley. It could also be the kitchen oven for the workers. Regards, Patrick
Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935. Our mug is smug
Re: Once was a brewery - Silverton (pic added)I like the last one. Nothing like red dirt to place it in the outback!
It could also be the firebox for some sort of boiler system I guess. Michael
Re: Once was a brewery - Silverton (pic added)I've been told the 'Pizza oven' was a boiler/boiling room for mash.
