More Silverton ruins (BW added)

A few more ruins from Silverton



Mud brick house ruins, over looking the town from a stark ridge top.



Alone on the edge of the town centre.



This was barricaded with an eight foot chain wire fence for safety, so I had to shoot it through a small opening for the locked gate latch. Hence the shadow. (Edit - adjusted levels as suggested)

What a great spot for a shoot. #1 is far and away the standout here. You've framed the shot beautifully with the window, but given us plenty of interesting details on the wall to keep our eye interested in the "frame" of the image. Well executed!

That last image is a great shot too, bar what I feel is excessive blue polarisation at the top right. Try it lightened up a little with a graduated filter ND effect and reduce the saturation a touch.

I am with Peter. I like the first image and you must have set a very high stop f number to get everything into focus. I also like the last picture because of its composition and colour.

Took your advice & altered the sky saturation from the CP filter. Looks much improved i think.

It's a great place for a shoot, with top subjects everywhere you look and striking light. I could honestly spend a month there taking my time with every shot, unlike the the limited time & rushed shots of only 2 days & 3 nights, while attempting to do too much in too short a time and still missing much of what I wanted to shoot. I will be definitely be returning.

The First shot is superb,the ruin by itself is interesting but with the contrasting light conditions it rocks!

Thanks jaff. I would have liked to exposed the fallen bricks below the sill a little more. Next time.

Hadn't thought about BW on these in particular Gerry, but the last would lend itself well, I think.
I did convert a number of others though, with a couple of them below. I'll post some other BW's later on with some of the other historical buildings.

Rail 'scooter'. I don't know the history of this railway scooter other than it still sits on a rail next to one of the historic buildings, adjacent to the town. And it's not the latest mode of transport
edit - I learned there was a tram line in Silverton and it was used by the scooter



Ruin next to ruins. Obviously not as old as the rail bike, but now stands just as still.
