The router just ...
stopped. Around 12:50 this afternoon. Wanted a rest, I guess. I got home, recycled the power on the router, and we're back. Part of the problem was that I was about 20 miles away from the router when it happenned, with no way of getting back here to deal wityh it. Likewise Leigh, although he was somewhat closer. That's part of life in running a system from home and having to go to work occassionally, I guess. g.

I remember that was the problem last time. Glad it was nothing major. My router gets indifferent about once a year (with nothing like the load yours carries), maybe if this keeps happening a few of us can chip in a fiver to shout a new one. Mind you, productivity must have been up all over Australia
Gary,
I have few of them in my inventory, they're new, which one you prefer, please PM me so I'll have it ready and you can pick it up tomorrow. Asus, Netgear, Dlink, Linksys, Cisco....... Birddog114

This one is a Netcomm router/ADSL modem that's only about 8 months old. For some reason it just seems to stop. No warning, although also I've not had a look at the logs.
It could be that an occasional DoS attack just overloads it ... Or it could also be that something happenned at my upstream provider (or Helstra) and it simply didn't recover gracefully. I'll fire up the backup server tonight and populate the DNS with an alternate route in to the backup server. That should take care of any issues that might arise over the weekend. g.

Mine is a Netcomm Smart Access Router & Firewall. Maybe the Netcomm union has rest breaks written into their contract. Mine is about 3 yrs old, and has a break about every 6-12 months, no matter if it needs it or not.
I called "Hetcomm" in Viet language is "Finishcomm" Birddog114

pfffffffft.... Not if you spend the entire afternoon pushing `refresh'..... ("Maybe now?" "Maybe now?" "Maybe now?" "Maybe now?" "Maybe now?" "Maybe now?" "Maybe now?" "Maybe now?" "Maybe now?" "Maybe now?") lol Oh - hi all. Lurker. Sorry.
cyanide,
Welcome to the forum . I see that you have come in from the cold. Interesting name - cyanide. My productivity was at an all time low this afternoon. Trying to get online, not successful, and then filling up my cup with coffee to stop the shakes - withdrawl symptoms I think. ta ta for now, fozzie

Half a day of D70 withdrawal symptoms, but none of that dirty Sigma talk?
Hmmm... Nope - I can cope better with silver bands than idle hands Peter

I actually had to work.
It was eerie. What made it even more eerie was that I had to do photography as the work. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au
