Used a gradient black and white conversion with a 20% gausian blur mask.

The eyes are so dark and foreboding- it's like they see something in the viewer. Black and white is so provocative. Great shot.

I read the title to the post then looked at the image (bleeding obvious..), however this (the title) really affected the way i percieved the image, i then thought more about it and thought of other titles and how they would influence me when looking at the image, i guess what I am gettign at is teh choice of title can really be used to influence the viewer, this probably obvious to all, however this image did get me thinging alittle more than normal.. and for that..thanks

You've done well! It looks as if this poor man has seen more suffering and toil than his fair share. This is a good example of what photography is all about - the subject.

As to you gerry, I was so glad to have the opportunity to take shots of the local Timorese they all tell you a great story and even thou they have got a hard life they are still fun loving people. It really puts my life here in Australia into a different perspective. You are right the title is very important.

Hi Craig, it was great meeting you on Saturday (and thansk for the lift), this looks even better on a big screen (compared to Stubbsy's Iphone). Its a great portrait, really captures some essence or spirit the subject. I'd love to learn a bit more abotu your gradient B&W technique and how that works, as I must admit its a new one to me.
