Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Inspired by ATJ and his diffuser topic, I finally had some time to use mine tonight on my little Princess.
Thanks Gary for the nice presents.

Beautiful! Nice work with the lighting.

Only thing I could suggest would be to remove the speculars from the lip and remove the vignette (you don't need it with this sort of tight crop)

She's lovely and I love the expression you've captured , Like the b/w but possibly the vingetting would work better on a wider shot
Great subject though so keep shooting

Craig,

Very nice, but I'm curious about your settings ....

ISO 1600, 1/15, f/5.6.

Given that you're using flash to capture this image, why ISO 1600, and why 1/15?

Good question Gary, I took lots of photos last night of her, with different ISO settings just to see the difference.
I haven't had the chance to have a good "play" with my 40D.

This Image just looked the best for me out of all of them. I like the softness, have to admit that I have added more grain to it in PS.

Hope that answers your question.

It's a brave person that criticises a 'little princess' shot. I wouldn't touch it- I'd keep it until she's old enough to recognise it and let her be the judge. My bet is she'll love it.
