Long lost memoriesSorry guys and girls
I cleaned my account up and deleted the old version but left the new crop in, so here is the new version. Nikon D200 ISO 200 f/2.8 1/640 80-200mm f/2.8 at 170mm Last edited by craig.rohse on Tue Aug 18, 2009 10:01 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Long lost memoriesNot being a portrait expert by any stretch of the imagination, however here's my 5 bucks worth...
I think cropping it is essential, just cropping a fraction below the button (?) in the centre there and then cloning out the rest of the arm on the right hand side - should be fairly easy given the fabric and colour. I think if it is cropped any more than that it becomes too tight and removes too much of his neck. Its an interesting expression and I am not sure how to take it or whether i really like it, however i will check back in and my opinion will probably change hope this helps, alittle at least gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Long lost memoriesYou were right gerry it looks much better now, thanks.

Re: Long lost memoriesI think perhaps crop off the Flikr logo at the bottom and a bit from the top to even it up so you're just left with the big white box with the words in the middle "This photo is currently unavailable".
The second image looks good, though.
Re: Long lost memories
that's lost on me..but i assume your not seeing the picture for some reason... Craig, I reckon that reworked cropped version is spot on, i am still not sure about the expression, however it is growing on me! Nonetheless, great image and glad i could help! gerry's photography journey

Maybe I should have named it gone with the wind , he does look a little lost or deep in thought "Old school" (Olympus OM 1&2SP )
Re: Long lost memoriesCraig the BW is right for this shot, his expression is a puzzle though as others have mentioned!
For me he's either just realised he's forgotten to set his Foxtel IQ to record his favorite show "Anotomy of a Quasar" or possibly has a rumbly tummy
