From my visit in July 2009. You may recognise some of these spots from the Qantas children's choir commercial on TV.

Great series, my favourite would be the 3rd image.I like the compositin and think it works really well. #4 is nicely done, but its just stops short of being really excellent, I'm not sure if it just needs a bit more definition in the top of the branches ?

This place looks magical and you have definitely captured it!

Great colours throughout. I really love the second; great spotting of the foreground material. The third is crying for a shaft of light to come down from the heavens.

you have got some classic kimberly/bungle bungle shots there, those boab trees make awesome subjects and you have used that to good effect with teh lighting of the day.

I cant remember the name of the falls (3rd shot) but unless you have been there you really do not get an appreciation for the size, that is at the end of a canyon and well worth the walk and pretty freakin huge - i would love to see it in the wet season! This shot you have done well since i know its hard to capture teh detail of the rocks, which are in shadows with a typical WA bright sun just sneaking in over the top of the falls - good approach to isolate one part of the falls.

With the first shot, i love those bee hives, did you take a portrait shot of this scene? it would be nice to include the base of the few trees in the foreground.

How did you find the drive in? the longest 50km's ever huh? or did you get the pleasure of flying in  The drive in has some great views of teh surrounding hills and that very cute button grass (i think thats the name).

I'm not sure if it just needs a bit more definition in the top of the branches ?

maybe just a shade of extra brightness?

Hey thanks Craig for the feedback. In #4 I also wish I had taken one or two steps back too to give it a bit more space.

Hey thanks for the comments

The drive in was quite difficult, but we had a guide taking us in a 4wd lancruiser so that made it easier! I think it is the road that probably keeps so many people out of this place which is probably also part of the charm.

I also would love to see it in the wet. It must be incredible. Only the lucky few could afford to charter a helicopter to get in there with the road impassible for 5 months of the year.

you also have some other nice ones on your site! i quite like the 'Boab in field of rosella' one

As a result of looking at your images I trawled back thru some of my P&S days when we were over there, and did i mention that the Cathedral falls is freakin huge  , for those out there who don't believe me, below is a shot I took in 2006, basically it is just left of Stephens shot and has some people in it to give an idea of the size! I hope this does not constitute as hijacking the thread

or a boat for the poor plebs

I would love to see more pictures from your trip over there...

Really nice shots. Did you use an ND grad at all? I like number three but maybe something to give foreground interest would have made the shot.

Thanks for the feedback guys. The colours are fairly special up in the Kimberley

Thanks and thank you for posting your pic. Wait till I process the shots I took with the 10.5mm fisheye in there! This one was with the 17-55mm and 17 was no where near wide enough.

Will post some more shots soon, including a couple from the scenic helicopter ride I took (although these were a little dissapointing - I had visions of grandure but it is hard to get good pics in a helicopter  )

Hi Ian - I didnt use a grad filter for these, but I have used a circ pol filter in the first two. Controlling exposure is some places was quite difficult because of the harsh day-time sun and there are still a couple of hot spots in some of these images. I used a tripod when I was shooting in the Gorge and must say thanks to my lovely fiance for carrying this some of the way for me.

I agree that my image in the Catherdral Gorge might benefit from a person or object in the foreground to help clarrify scale, etc. I have something similar from a slightly different angle, but im not super happy with the blown highlights here.
