HS Senior Pics

Did my first round of senior pictures for my cousin - it's my first exposure to posing a male model. (: He's into farming and agricultural junk, so I tried to incorporate that with the photos - C&C appreciated, you won't hurt my feelings!

Really seriously nice work and a great location- it really makes the shoot. Of them all I think I like the last one least- it might be a little too centred and maybe its my monitor but it looks a little soft. Numbers 2 and 3 are really nice and number 1 is growing on me- I like the offset angle of the shot which adds heaps of interest, but the model looks a little self conscious. All up I think these are terrific (as they say in real estate location, location, location)

I was just talking about this to someone the other day: "Seniors" does not have the same meaning outside the US. Here we traditionally have prep, Primary (years 1-6), Secondary (sometimes "High" school) (years 7-12) and then university or other college.
My first reaction when seeing "seniors" in the title was to expect older people. At least the "HS" bit gave a hint that it might be an American posting.

I like #3 (although I'd be careful about the highlights on his forehead.
Have you got any shots where he's not eyeballing you?

Ha - didn't think of how "senior" would be interpreted by all y'all Aussies.. (: You know how us Americans are.. just thinking of ourselves, ignorant, fat and lazy too..

Yeah, I have some photos where he's not "eyeballing me" - dunno why that makes me laugh - first one I like and have PPed a bit, the other 4 are in my junk pile because my wife doesn't like photos where he's not eyeballing the camera - not saying that's a good reason, just a reason. What do you think, any of these worth taking a second look at? Raw from the camera, no PP.

Actually was just shooting a test shot to evaluate lighting, but kind of like this for some reason..

The images are relaxed, informal and very natural. The colours are great!.......these images will stand the test of time. Good work!

These images are great, you've done a great job. In the first series #1 is the standout, great colour, pose, great natural light. My only nit pick on the first and its tiny, is the vertical of the porch beam adn what might be a closeline or something going through the back of his head. You don't notice it at first, and its not a deal breaker, but its there.

#2 I'd like a bit of room above his head, I don't mind the tilt on it, it adds to the casual / relaxed feel you've captured.

#3 My eyes find it weird there is a tone change between the forground wall and background wall, other then that I don't mind it, the expression is a little mischiefous

#4 This one is the weakest of the bunch in my opinion, a bit soft, the man in the middle compostion doesn't do it any favours, or the arc through the back of the head. I think the machinary could of been used differently to make it work better. I don't mind the pose, and think even cropped off most of the RHS of the frame might help.

The other more candid not at the camera shots are great, in the 1st & 2nd you've missed a bit of the top of his head I'd prefer some space. In the last shot, its enough to look intentional so the top missing isn't a problem for me. He looks a little too posed in the 2nd. But I like the background it's got lots of potenital.

Overall I think you've done a great job, and I hope you take the CC in the way it was intended.

these are great. you have created a lot of images with a variety of backgrounds/scenes. Much better then my indoor shots my photographer made for me in my senior year. Mine were as boring as a suit, and a second in my foot ball jersey and helmet.

Lots of solid seperation from the background, with the exception of the brick wall. he looks about 2 feet off the wall, would have liked this shot if the bricks were a bit softer, 4-6 feet off.

A couple are a little too tightly cropped, and that may stand out when framed.

My favourite is the black and white, where he is lifting that cube of grass. We dont have those here...
