Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Seaview Resort - The Building - The Website

Postby Bob G on Wed Sep 09, 2009 12:11 am

As a few of you already know I am undertaking the project of establishing a new web site.

Last week we completed the last of 4 very full days of shooting with models both at the resort and around various locations in Mooloolaba and elsewhere on the Sunshine Coast.

We used a pro photographer, a make-up artist, five adult models and two child models - so it was a very expensive exercise.

I will contribute minimal photos to the website - probably a few landscapes and the following pic I took tonight.

The hardest part was going to all 50 apartments and turning on the Balcony kitchen and 2 nd bedroom light - then turning them all off after the shoot.

I took a ladder across the road and climbed up onto the roof of a bus shelter. I used my 14-24 at the 14 end and cropped after to minimise distortion. It still needed some minor perspective corrections in CS4.

I shot right through the twilight - about half an hour.

Anyway here's the result - comments welcome.

clone away that car...sticks out like dogs balls for the lack of a better phrase.

the application of the image will determine the best POV, I would liek to see a portrait style shot and also one not taken square onto the building, however not knowing exactly what the image is going to be used for, ie front page of brochure or just fodder thru the brochure its hard to guess.

I do like the fact that the image is fairly distortion free, crucial for type of image in my opinion.

The car is actually there "on purpose" ( my BMW X5 )
The intention was to not look like those real estate shots in the sales windows but to look lived in/ occupied / active. I would really have liked some blurred people walking past and a couple more cars. :)

This is, as the thread title infers, a website shot for commercial purposes. It is one of three shots to be used.
The shot you have in mind might be more like the following one. My photographer shot the bikini model in daylight for the express purpose of me integrating it in CS4 with a building shot I was to take in due course. I got up at 5.30 one morning for the stillness of the water and the reflection of the building in the pool.
This is the shot most likely to be used in a brochure in due course.
The 3 rd photo for the web is an aerial shot from behind showing the whole coastal strip and the various accommodation available identified in the pic.

This gives you a broader view of the intent.
Further comments welcome

agreed, however in lieu of that, i think a lonely car is worse than no car, however that is probably just a preference thing.

I guess what i was getting at was, how is the image going to be used, is it for example, going to be on the 'contact us' page as a means for potential guests to identify the building or...

and add eople walking past, mabey the tail of a car in the bottom left

at the end of the day you could have whatever you want in there - what designers and arch do with images today is pretty amazing.

I liek this shot more, and not for the reason that there is a half naked girl there :cough: this particular view would be good for the 'facilities' page or similar. On a side note, this image looks interesting, as with all bikini posing it does not look particularly comfortable and the lighting does not quite match the rest of the image, however for a brochure I imagine this would be fine and dandy.

there's the other problem  :rotfl2:

good luck with the webbie and promo gear..,.
