New Here My First Critique RequestThis is a shot I did recently of a lovely model Ashley, her dress was superb and I wanted to achieve a front back look in the same image for a small dress boutique's advertising materials.
Please let me know what you think. How I could improve the image. Shot in my home studio in Tyabb. Thanks Mark
Re: New Here My First Critique RequestYou've got some seriously freaky (that's good btw) shots in the Altered Images gallery on your site.
Nice work!
Re: New Here My First Critique RequestWelcome to the forum Mark and, yes, you have some superb shots in your gallery.

Re: New Here My First Critique RequestGreat shots indeed.
Hoping that you would tell us more about your light and background setup....
Re: New Here My First Critique Request
Sorry thanks for the tip. Lighting was four Studio Flash Lights. F11 @ 100 main light to left of pic as we look at it, fill light 2 stops less to the right, both at approx 45 degrees, both lights fitted with soft-boxes to diffuse the light giving the image the soft light effect. Background two small fill flashes with rectangular reflectors at approx 45 degrees pointing at and across the background to stop the background falling completely to black (although this is a little hard to see on the web reduced images and the fact I have layered two images together) the rectangular reflectors on the background lamps help prevent spill onto the back of the model something I was keen to avoid. That is pretty much it,
Re: New Here My First Critique Requesthi Mark, welcome. Pleased to see you post some work day 1, its great to get feedback in here and I love the honesty and constructive feedback that the good folks in here offer.
I think you have done a great job with lighting and pose for that fabric, looks very reflective. only the slightest area for improvement I can suggest, and im only being very particular. the models underwear seems visible as VPL. Its only slight, but the eye is caught on it rather than running over the flowing dress. Its one of those things that cant be edited out easily, so I usually point it out at the time and ask the model if she can suggest alternatives (more respectful than insisting they remove them). cheers
Re: New Here My First Critique RequestNow depending upon the store in question and their location..........
My personal opinion would be that the dress is lovely but the tats and rear hair style don't seem to reflect the same elegance. Very nice lighting. Regards Colin

Re: New Here My First Critique Request
Wow thanks so much I had not picked this up and agree next time I will watch out and fix in the camera.
Re: New Here My First Critique RequestMark,
I'm slightly confused about the way the light appears to have fallen on your model's breasts in the left hand image here. There are parts of the cleavage that seem to be blown, whereas the rest of the image seems to have the exposure nailed, with good density and saturation. I'm trying to understand from your description of the lighting how this occurred, and I'm left thinking that perhaps it's an artifact of your processing, rather than the lighting. g.

Re: New Here My First Critique Request
Spot on this is an artifact of the PP I check the original image and the models left breast is not blown out, to get the effects I wanted I had to quite heavily process this image and yes that was the result.
Re: New Here My First Critique Request
I have been contemplating this and was interested to see how it would change the image so I had a play. What do you think? No Tats & Long Blonde Hair. This is a very cool site for learning.
Re: New Here My First Critique RequestHi and welcome,
I much prefer the tats-less (is that a word) image. I would maybe just tone down the hair on the left below the arm a little. Of course a reason for keeping the hair short is that it shows off the back of the dress which long hair completely hides. If this is a shot for a sales brochure they may want people to see the straps.
