There are indeed. I've taken plenty with my previous camera (an Olympus E-10), but haven't really had a chance to get out with the D-70 yet.

I'm also coming to grips with Nikon Capture. Previously all my RAW workflow was through Photoshop Elements and Paul Dempsey's ORF file decoding tools. It's definitely different and will take some time to get used to. I ordered a copy of Photoshop Elements 3.0, but the downside of this is it doesn't support custom curves like NC does. I will have to do some side by side testing to see if it is an issue.

In my short time with the D-70, a couple of things immediately make themselves apparent in comparison to the E-10:

1) It's much lighter. The E-10 is a tank.
2) Batteries are no longer a concern. The E-10 ate batteries like a shark eats fish. I built the poor man's LiPO battery for it which helped, but exacerbated item 1.
3) It's FAST! The E-10 takes great pictures, if you have the time. It is glacially slow in focusing, saving files, etc. I was ALWAYS waiting for it. I can honestly say I've never had to wait to take a picture with the D-70
4) The D-70 kit lens is appreciably slower than the lens on the E-10. I miss the f2.0/2.8 speed of the E-10. A 50mm f1.8 is definitely on the wish list.
5) The D-70 seems to expose more accurately than the E-10 does. I say seems because I'm not comparing apples to apples here because of the different workflow issues.

Ditto with the 5400... responsiveness is what forced me to a d70!

And yes... next piece of glass is a 50/1.4 or 50/1.8 depends on what deals I see...

It runs the gamut. Family, architecture, nature, automobiles, etc, etc.

Luckily there is plenty of material here in New Orleans. Mardi Gras, The French Quarter, Uptown, Algiers Point all are prime targets for photography.

As I indicated earlier, I really haven't had much opportunity to get out with the D-70. Most of the shots I've made thus far have been of my family.
