Logo Placement - and a long story....

Finally getting around to sorting out the photos at the end of the sporting season.
It was interesting being able to use the camera at my daughters Netball games this year. Last year the Netball Association went totally mad and banned all cameras from the games. I wanted to have a fight with them about how I was legally within my rights to use the camera BUT after seeing the committee I decided it was not worth the hassle. (anyone who has been involved in Netball will know what I am talking about)
Anyway before the start of this season I thought I would go down the official channels and apply for a permit to shot at the games. I was told that this was not possible! After some further discussions and pointing them towards some legal documents I was given permission.
The end result was that I had an awesome time getting some fantastic shots of my daughter and her team mates having a wonderful time playing a game that they love.
Anyway here is a shot that I liked and so did the club.
C&C more than welcome.

Glad you won the battle Mal. My opinion about authority today, they are all total wankers

Good work Mal

it's great that you were able to get around the bureaucracy - I'd be interested in hearing more details around their (and your) arguments.

Their arguments were the standard "I might be using the photos for child pornography" or "Someone else might want to take photos for pornography" And if we let you then we will have to let everyone else.
I sent them a link to the following website and suggested that at their next committee meeting they have a discussion about the contents and I would give them a call after they had a chance to discuss it.

http://www.4020.net/words/photorights.php

It is a very helpful site and I know it has been mentioned here a couple of times over the years. I used to have a print out in my camera bag.

After their meeting I had a call from one of the committee telling me all was OK and that I needed to get permission from all the parents before each game if I was to take photos. I said that this was something I would have done out of courtesy anyway.
And I must say that there was not one objection in the entire season, in fact I think that there was a small revolution taking place and more and more parents started bringing cameras to the games as the season progressed.
The strange thing was that I also took the camera to my son's soccer games and not once did I ask permission or feel that I was being looked at as some sort of pervert!

There is enough on Free-to-air TV and payTV to satisfy all types of perverts but it would seem that in this modern day and age you can be labelled for just wanting to record a history of your own children. This attitude actually disgusts me more than the perverts do.

For the record I would lock all perverts up and bury the key in concrete

This whole restriction on photography business is getting way out of hand. Glad that you have won your battle!

Cameron i actually think we are beginning to get some normality back. The fact that I was not questioned at all at my son's soccer games says that we may be starting to get things back to normal. Here's hoping anyhow. :D

Its funny - I have been accused of being a kiddy fiddler at both netball and junior soccer games (and a couple of senior ones too).

Soccer mums especially - Cant be too carefull

Mal, good on you for having the balls to continue the fight, this camera = terrorist/pervert/etc thing is out of hand. Glad you continued till common sense prevailed.

The placement of the ball is amazing! Very nice shot and would be great for publicising the club.

Is there a point that you're trying to make here? :)

Mal,

I don't know that we're winning the battle yet. I suspect that your experience with the soccer club is merely due to them being less pro-active or aware of the situation. I d hope that I'm wrong, however.

Well done on taking up the battle on this; you ought to be congratulated!

Well done for fighting on Mal! We, the forum members salute you! Your image is a good action shot and you fired that shutter at exactly the right moment. The pic is a bit contrasty from a technical point of view but perhaps you could process that and correct it.
Regards

Well done Mal. Good that you stood up for your rights and succeeded.

Great image too. I can see why the netball club liked it. I suppose it's one of those images where everything goes right.
