Hawker Hurricane

Hello

Here is a pic i took on my recent trip to the U.K. it is a Hawker Hurricane at Duxford airfield with some re enactors

I have a zillion pics to process from my 3 month trip and will be occupied for the rest of my days i reckon ! as i filled 3 500gb portable hard drives with raw images !!

Very nice - I'd almost print on discolored/aged paper and distress the edges a little

I think I read that the last remaining airworthy Hurricane went to auction in Melbourne last week after spending most of its post war life in NZ. Apparently it had suffered significant damage from a shell burst and had been retired before the end of the war, but was then restored by Kiwi enthusiasts.

Somehow you have really captured a feeling here with the smiles on the faces and the great use of B&W. Well done. My dad flew in a Fairy Swordfish. You didn't happen to snap one of those?

I n regard to what was reported/written in the press about the Hurricane up for auction it is not entirely correct (like many things !!) and secondly yes i did take pics of Swordfish aircraft, Two of them at the Royal Navy museum at Yeovilton (one airworthy with historical flight) the other in the museum and another is at Duxford in their museum thanks for the feedback.

This is one of the best photos I have seen all year, maybe many years. It captures the feel of a bygone era in aviation/warfare. I don't get to pick POTW/M/Y but this one would have to be up there.

I took so many pics at this two day event they number in the many many hundreds and i justed picked this one out as i love Hurricanes i have some B17 in the same vein but as it is a wide aircraft they don't have the impact however i am still working on them and will post some when i can

Awesome shot, very nice treatment to give it that old school era feel. The 3/4 angle is perfect on the aircraft, my only preference would have had those darn pilots more over to the left to give more pose to that beautiful piece of machinery - but thats pilots for ya

Hello

I took the pic in raw then opened in Capture NX2 , basic levels adjustment and sharpening, cropped by around 30% then converted to black and white using same programme which has the option of utilising a one click process which seemed to work
In short nothing special i used a Nikon D700 and Nikon 24-70 @ 62mm

Thanks a million. I suspect in this instance that the PP had very little to do with the final image. It is just a great shot all round, and speaks well for your skill as a photographer mostly, and of the capabilities of the Nikon D700.
