Picture of the Week 6 October 2009

Postby Greg B on Tue Oct 06, 2009 8:14 am

The PotW for this week is from Jenno (Ray), a great shot of Nobby's Beach at Newcastle
taken from inside the pavilion. The result is a virtual triptych which offers the viewer
plenty to look at and consider. In some ways, it reminds me of the sort of shot you might
have seen in a magazine like Camera Art back in the late seventies.

Anyway, such reflections aside, I just like it, so I chose it, and you get to see it again or
for the first time :)

Excellent work Ray.

Greg,

Great choice.

Ray has made excellent use of the available picture elements, and presented them in a manner that encourages us to look, and to look again.

And there are a number of technical difficulties that Ray needed to overcome or compromise with in his making of this image.

Lovely image. The use of the 3 arches simply compels the viewer to keep looking through them to the scene outside; very well done.

Just returned from visiting the Cowra Japanese Gardens and was surprised to see my image on the front page.
Thanks for the nomination Greg and for the comments from others.

Yes, I agree with all the above. I also think this picture would shine as a poster A2 size and framed. Congratulations!
