Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.
Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Those who participated in the street shooting exercise a few weeks back may remember Jane. She was the lovely lady who was promoting her upcoming theatrical performances. I managed to get together with Jane today, and shot some very interesting images. I'll be posting more of these as I take some time to process them, but I thought I'd just throw a couple up here for starters. Jane is a remarkably beautiful young lady, with eyes that make photographing her a real joy. These are in no way typical of what we achieved today - we shot some very different scenarios - and I am really very happy with the outcome. And yes, i will be doing some post over the next few weeks.     The setup for the whole of the day's effort was just one light through a beauty dish. g.

Pending WB adjustment, these look good. I quite like #2 and #3 for their composition.
Not sure whether the eyes are in sharp focus in the second though.
I like the intermediate light from the beauty dish. How far was the beauty dish from Jane?

Hi Gary
The images came up a tad yellow on my monitor so I copied #2 and did a curves WB adjust off the white of her eyes. That made a big difference! The amount of fine detail you captured is amazing...the lighting was perfectly set to pick up every pore/eye lash and hair. Lens and camera working together as a perfect tool. Very nice!

While I like to push my images towards the warm side, these are probably a little too far, so yes, I need to pull them back just a little. Matt, please feel free to post your version, if you wish; I'd love to see it.
The lighting .... the beauty dish is just so well named. Suren, the distance varied between about one to two meters; I was shooting using a QiHe 150Ws strobe, pulled back to between minimum and half power, depending upon how the histogram was looking.

I agree, these are very crisp and clear images Gary, but too warm! Perfect exposure and yes, nice to see you posting more images! Ps - I think the last one would look awesome as a B&W and a LITTLE bit of 'film like' grain

Here is a version which has been cooled down a bit. Could someone with a calibrated monitor confirm it's not too cool? I assume you are ok with us 'cooling' down your picture Gary? I have done a few more adjustments as well.  I found it's hard to add grain as it increases her freklarity.
