I just wanted to share a few more images from that trip....

I quite like the cool colors in the first with the white haze. The composition is balanced.

I agree that may be backing off the HDR in the 3rd is a good idea.

Kudos for getting out there after work!

Sublime point is a great spot for first light if the colors are present but you have made the most of what was available

Not a big fan of the HDR

Luckily there was no bunnies when i was there but then again, they say they are becoming immune to the calicivirus

I have to admit that the first image is my favourite from the day...and best of all it was shot like so...no process, not even to remove bunnies.

Thanks for the comments..Keep them coming! BTW a quick clean using the Giottos rocket got rid of those bunnies...the viewfinder/focus screen however did not liek the same treatment so stupid me got out some pecpads and the spatula that Matt made for me and ended up with a scratch (I think I will get some sensor swabs if I have to do a wet clean and keep the spatula's from them)

The third image is the standout for me, from a composition point of view. The HDR conversion looks over cooked, but the portrait composition and placement of the rock, bush etc work quite well compositionally. I would like to see a non-HDR version of this one.

Cameron, As Gerry has pointed out, the last is very nice with less HDR.

Thanks for your kind words Colin. I have not thought about a Pano Crop out of #3, but now that you mention it...it would work...may be time to fire up Genuine Fractals at work and see what I can get.

I think a ND filter would have been useful in the first one to extract more details in the foreground, but this picture does nothing for me. I agree the 3rd is the one to work on as the composition is better in my opinion. Have you been using Cokin filters to get this purple hue?

As an afterthought, yes an ND8 would have been nice to use, just to see what I can get out of it, oh well I guess i could just burn in the sky in PhotoChop and see what I get. No filters were used in any of these, just the S5 Pro in F2 colour mode (Slide Film) and (cringes) Auto WB. The purple is a side affect of the colour mode used and the white balance.

I suppose you could have done a 5 shot exposure which should cover at least 8 stops of dynamic range. I do find that it gets tedious to post process these multi exposures as I can't usually decide which one I want to process!

Def a Grad ND...a full ND would just be foolish. I just cant be bothered to do any post on these as I dont have a decent raw processor for the fuji, adobe just drains the colours.
