EOI Sculptures By the Sea 2-11-2009 18:30

Postby aim54x on Wed Oct 28, 2009 7:47 am

Just in case no one else has noticed, the annual sculptures by the sea exhibition is on again. Last year a few of us headed out and had a mini-meet followed by some good food. I was just wondering if anyone wanted to visit this exhibit this year.

As I am currently working 6 days a week, maybe a later meet (say 6.30pm on a monday, wednesday or thursday) to catch the last light of the day would be good. Otherwise a weekend meet (Sunday is my preference although I am trying to juggle a few things on my Sundays.)

Cheers

Great idea, Cameron.

I'm thinking that a MiniMexiMeet, such as we did last year, would be good, and a weeknight for this is definitely the way to go, to avoid dealing with all of the A380 strollers.

Did we do this on a Monday night last year? Is a Monday evening good for this?

Monday is as good as any. Will probably be lowest traffic levels.

Which location are we going to start?

I wonder whether we can do a spot of lightpainting as well.....

That's a shame.

Thread title edited, and I've added this to the calendar.

We'll gather just south of the Icebergs club, about where we gathered last year.

Beach Burrito Bar for munchies afterwards.

I should be in. A little doubt as we may have to rescue some bushwalkers from Jenolan, but Pam says she can manage that on her own.

Greg,

I would assume it's easy to find.

As for parking, I am not sure of the details but, DO NOT illegally park in Bondi. The parking warden's are absolute Nazis! Maybe Gary can direct us to some good parking spots.

Greg,

Yes, it's Bondi.

The easiest parking will be on QE2 Drive, which is the roadway that fronts the beach and pavilion, but it's not cheap. There is plenty of metered parking along Campbell Parade, which is the main roadway behind the beach, with more towards the northern end of the beach, and another lot behind the pavilion. As Cameron suggests, don't park illegally.

Icebergs is at the southern end of the beach, where there is a roadway that runs off Campbell Pde heading down towards the water. The club is easily identifiable from anywhere on the beach - just look towards the south, and you'll see a four storey structure right amongst the rocks. Just wander down that roadway at the southern end of the beach, past the club, and there's an entrance to the cliff walk which is where the sculptures are located.

The Beach Burrito Bar is at the Northern end of the beach, on Campbell Pde, pretty much directly opposite the North Bondi SLSC.

See you there tonight.

I'm afraid I am not going to make it. Sorry for the late notice. I started out, but decided my head was simply not in the right space to cope with city traffic. Especially in Peak Hour

I will try to get down to see it, with Pam, in the next few days. I will have to study your photos to work out angles & lenses.

Yes Surenj. I do have one :P
