It was wet, but there was a surprising amount of light out yesterday. Me and Marcus went to Taronga Zoo, armed with my D60 and Sigma 180mm it was a nice day out.

Nice shot of the Meerkats Cameron with the backlight. I would try to add a sparkle to the eye though.

The flower shot has a nice composition. I suggest removing the small bit of petal on the top and increasing contrast (the whites look gray)

Actually, the flowers may improve even further with a contrasty BW conversion.

great composition on the Meerkats mate. Although i have a different perspective from Surenj... i like that the eyes are darker and almost minimal detail..if there was an implanted light paint on the eye it would distract the image from the pure impressiveness of the fur's detail. Kudos for this mate!

Love that snow leopard's tongue.. I'd love to see a long exposure version of this.. to see the leopard licking running water.. though the still water gives it a realistic character to the image, even though i know we didnt have a tripod.. i shud have brought mine mate!

That lioness is awesome, you have to click on teh image to get the sharper version but it is definitely worth it! nice work cam.

The orchids is also very neat, great composition the placement of the flowers is perfect, my only gripe would be it looks alittle dark, see below for my take.

Not sure what to do with the Meerkats, but I did revisit the orchids.

I wasnt sure about your rework Gerry, I think you have lost too much of the water drop detail. What do you guys think of this rework?

general curve adjustment, selected brightness/contrast adjustment on the in focus flower, extra colour saturation and then PS CS2 for a clone of the partial petal.

*scratches head* I dont think people would believe that I managed to get these shots with 180mm Macro if i was in Kenya.

#2 is one of the best shots of the snow leopard that I have seen. I know how hard it is to get a shot at these critters. Nice! The flower also shines as a top image. The lion I think lack critical sharpness.

Thanks Matt those snow leopards are tough to capture in photos, but they are also amongst my favourites so I hope to get plenty more shots and hopefully improve my shots of them. The lion is sharp, but yes it lacks that 'critical' sharpness, the sharpness that makes it a special shot....i guess that is what you mean, the image is nice but it lacks that extra bit to draw in the eye.
