EOI: Harbour Bridge Detail minimeet

Postby gstark on Thu Nov 12, 2009 5:38 pm

While I was otherwise detained at my lunch at Cafe Sydney this afternoon, I noticed some very nice images on the wall (do I ned to paint the whole picture for you? :) ) of the coathanger. Not your ordinary every day images, but images of small detail elements - the rivets, joints, girders, etc.

I thought that this could make the basis of a minimeet - a bridgewalk. but with the express purpose of making images of the minutae that comprises the bridge.

Is there any interest in this? And if so, what dates would be of interest?

And I am perfectly happy for places other than Sydney to join in as well.

Great idea Gary and could even be combined with the excellent value $9.50 pylon climb. I am interested dates permitting.

For those so interested, yes.

Sounds like a great idea, count me

I did the pylon earlier this year and it rated very highly for me...

as for times, I am easy, would prefer an early start though

January 9 then?

Time of day?

Although that's a Saturday, unless it's also the start of the FoS, I'm thinking maybe about three hours after noon, with perhaps dinner somewhere afterwards.

If this is the same date that the FoS commences, then we should do this before lunch, probably from the northern side, and then evacuate by around lunchtime.

Very interested. I will be flying back into Syd-er-ney around 7-8 Jan from OS so might be able to swing it, but not sure. I haven't been able to see any DSLRusers for a couple of years so it would be good to catch up.

Some clown in their infinite wisdom has put Tropfest on the same night as the Twilight parade which is on the 21st Feb...so 21st isn't sounding that great to me anymore ( I am quite keen to head to Tropfest ). Of all the weekends, in all of the months they had to choose the same one. :(

Do we have any more details for this? I can't make it for Sat 13th but I will be driving down to Sydney late on that very day with my daughter.

Is anyone interested in transforming this into a Harbour Bridge micro meet on either Monday 15th or Tuesday 16th in the late afternoon/early evening?

Sounds good to me. If there's enough interest, we could meet after work hours at say, the Quay, get some nice late afternoon shots of the bridge and the Rocks. Maybe then a ferry over to Luna Park for a different angle? All weather permitting of course.

We'll see what happens regarding interest.
