compact folding tripod Tamrac ZipShotSaw this today, and thought I would share. It looks like a terrific tripod to stuff in the camera bag for when you need it. its only 38cm when collapsed, fitting inside my shoulder camera bag, and opens like a dome tent pole. comes with a ball head, adorama around US$ 50, much cheaper than a nano stand but shorter.
could be useful for strobist stuff too (although not very tall). solves the "I left my tripod at home problem". http://www.zipshottripod.com/
Re: compact folding tripod Tamrac ZipShotThanks for the link. It looks pretty interesting. I wonder if it actually does hold a dslr.

Re: compact folding tripod Tamrac ZipShothey, that looks like my tent poles
at 1.3kg it could be a viable option for fairly lightweight stuff (D80+wide angle lens), probably great for hikers/campers, however the lack of being able to adjust the height would be a killer, unless you mod it to remove the bungie cord so you can mix 'n' match the tent poles. gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: compact folding tripod Tamrac ZipShot
I very much doubt it. Based upon what I'm seeing here, I wouldn't even put a D40 on it. I think that abetter solution might be the new Gorillapod Focus. This is a Gorillapod that actually works. Either that, or the Manfrotto tabletop tripod, which takes up no space in your bag, but can carry a D300 with the Nikkor 80-400 VR. g.

Re: compact folding tripod Tamrac ZipShotHmm, bummer. I have a gorillapod and I have a good tripod, I was looking for somthing kind of in between for hiking and places where I don't want to cart the big tripod. I actually really like my gorillapod except when I want to take a picture from eye level and there's nothing to stick it on, or a family shot with me in it too.

Re: compact folding tripod Tamrac ZipShotWould be useful for a compact camera. I don't know whether you'd trust an expensive DSLR on this though.
Flash is ok but not tall enough as already pointed out.
Re: compact folding tripod Tamrac ZipShotIf only my girlfriend was this portable.
Great concept though! Canon | Sony | Panasonic | Tamron | Sigma
