3 fruits - for your C&CRandom shot that I was hoping to get a pure white background.
I seem to be getting a purple cast when I use my Golden eagle strobes with 'flash' WB preset on camera. Even when I remove the cast on PS, it still appears on windows picture preview. Can you guys see it? [in fact it looks much more washed out in flickr... Grrr] I am not really into still life pictures but your C&C is appreciated as always.
Re: 3 fruits - for your C&Clovely pink sheen, strong in the bottom right, white in top left
whizzzz, there goes life again.....
But now captured on a Canon 40D with bits http://www.flickr.com/photos/wazonthehill/
Re: 3 fruits - for your C&COn this screen I am seeing the cast as well, stronger bottom right, pretty much gone top left. This screen isn't calibrated though. I will try to check it out at home as well on the calibrated Dell. Interestingly, I have multiple monitors here and it is way worse on one than the other. If ever there was an add for colour management...
As for the composition, I like the idea and the contrasting red and green colours. The layout seems a bit, predictable I guess. It's all very centred and balanced and as such not that interesting. Having said that, I am no still life photographer so I am no sure how to achieve a better layout with these subjects.
Re: 3 fruits - for your C&CNice shot surenj,
I do find the shadow from the kiwi fruit a little over powering/distracting and agree that the red colour cast is also a bit distracting. I'm sure with some creative processing you could enhance this shot significantly though. Thanks for sharing. Geoff

Re: 3 fruits - for your C&CThanks everyone for their input.
It looks quite acceptable on my uncalibrated Dell 2007WFP but at work it looked absolutely horrible!! I suppose it's the blind leading the blind at the moment..
Thanks waz for the confirmation. Thanks Geoff. I am not sure how to get rid of shadow color cast but will look into it. Me thinks that monitor calibration in order.
Thanks Dawesy. I am not sure either but can easily try other arrangements. Wish their was a yellow object for contrast. Does anyone have a spyder or equivalent I could borrow for a weekend in December?
Re: 3 fruits - for your C&CCould the cast be the light reflected from the chilli and the strawberry? There is bound to be some red picked up and spread around?
Regards
Matt. K
Re: 3 fruits - for your C&CMatt, It seems to be in the kiwi fruit shadow as well!
Re: 3 fruits - for your C&Cadd a tad of cyan and a little green will fix your red...... to make it pop also add a tad of contrast......
Cheers ....bp....

Re: 3 fruits - for your C&C - updated photoHmm... I had a play again.
Re: 3 fruits - for your C&C...... your new image looks cleaner........
change your camera to Adobe RGB 1998..... check photoshop colour settings, should also be Adobe RGB 1998, and calibrate your screen...... if your screen is 3-4 years old, it will be harder to calibrate..... Cheers ....bp....

Re: 3 fruits - for your C&CSuren, your reworked image looks heaps better, the colours and contrast level look alot more realistic.
gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: 3 fruits - for your C&CAgree the rework looks better!
I actually had 5 mins at home to get on the PC last night and forgot about this thread, so still only based on an un-calibrated screen sorry! SPeaking of which, I do have a new SPyder 3 if you wanted to borrow it. I see you are in Kensington, I make the odd trip to Little Bay to visit the other half so do pass by on occasion, if you want to try and tee something up shoot me a PM.
Re: 3 fruits - for your C&C
Thanks Bigpix. Why does the age matter? This is a high gamut Dell monitor. Do they degrade that much over time? Maybe I can claim warranty saying it's not within it's high gamut spec? Since I publish mainly to the web, I haven't bothered with Adobe RGB. I have my camera and PS (also I think my LR) configured for sRGB. Otherwise I would have to change colour space when I saved for the web. [I suppose this is not that hard to do ; sinceI always convert using LR even after editing in PS] Thoughts? Thanks Gerry.
Thanks Dawesy, I just might take you up on that offer. I will read up on how to calibrate first.
Re: 3 fruits - for your C&C.......Screens are a throw away item...... ........ I have 2 Apple 20 inch screens, both running the same profile, and the older screen would be way off colour...... colour wise, the newer screen is spot on and the older screen very average and only 5-6 years old. OK for just a viewing screen
you can set up an action...... one mouse click..... to convert to sRGB Cheers ....bp....
