Over-the-top-wide-angleI thought I'd go over the top and fall off the edge with the wide angle goodness. As usual, I would love to hear what you think of these. Thanks in advance for looking.
Electrifying to upgrade from a kit lens! Can't wait for some more sunrise shots

Re: Over-the-top-wide-anglenice work suren, great to see you got yourself an upgrade...
This should make for some sunrise fun... The first product shot is very nice and creative...great stuff.. gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Over-the-top-wide-angleThe first one is great! And... so it's the second!
So, you finally went for the Canon lens. Someone from my digital club, up here is Brisbane, advised me (with lens) "...to stick to the brandname of the camera because although you pay a bit more they are generally better suited products." P.S. You should sell the first to Canon for it has lots of marketing potential.

Re: Over-the-top-wide-angleI guess you would have considered the new 7D. This camera would give you the best of both formats.
Re: Over-the-top-wide-angle
IQ wise I'd stick with the 40D but hey! you can't deny the ability to force a camera to do what you want it to do rather than it doing what it wants to btw, Nice product shot Suren, big fan of the green Canon | Sony | Panasonic | Tamron | Sigma

Re: Over-the-top-wide-angle
I have seriously considered the 7D, but I just have a question mark over it's IQ. It may be just me reading too many reviews. I spoke to a mate this morning who claimed that although he is very happy with camera's operation, the RAW files need a huge amount of processing to get a decent sharp image. Just his opinion, mind you. Will keep considering. President, A.A.A.A.A (Australian Association Against Acronym Abuse)

Re: Over-the-top-wide-angle
Thanks Wendell. Can't wait for the lightpainting meet. How bright are your lights? Myn are a little weak 10 seconds at 6.3 ISO 100.
Thanks Gerry. Sunrises are going to be more and less fun. This lens will struggle with the graduated filters a little. I may have to hand hold.
Hmm... that's an idea!
I am happy with the flare and CA which were my main concerns. IQ is similar in the Tamron but focusing is faster(For my purposes).
It's too bad that they didn't just upgrade the 40D with video, faster shutter, focus instead of using this 18MP sensor!
You echo my sentiments exactly. Dpreview does say the noise is comparable to D300s. I am going to wait until LR supports these files properly. No hurry for a body anyways. No money either.
Re: Over-the-top-wide-angleCongrats on the purchase, I like the 2nd image...great colours.

Re: Over-the-top-wide-angle
Thanks Cameron.
It's sad that we have to discuss dubious image quality on a brand new camera. I still remember the times when the Canon high ISO images were described as 'silky smoothand noise free'. Gone are those days. Marcus, I would love to hear and see your results from this camera. [I know it will be biased due to your fanboy status ]
Re: Over-the-top-wide-angleBoth shots are really cool. I love the lighting in the first one though.

Thanks Killakoala. I lightpainted the first. and combined two exposures.
Re: Over-the-top-wide-angle
Noise Issue is now descirbed in my rant about the 7D. Noise wise? Now, after more testing.. its proven its worth in "potential" to me, the noise levels are high inconsistent, as you would all know, we like grainless images as well as grainy images, just has to suit the environment. But I'm sad to say that 50% of the time it's not trustworthy. I have to take mine back to canon i think. Though Chris has asked if there's anyway for me to calibrate it myself. Canon techheads might not let me do that. haha might breach the warranty issue. All in all, I'm happy with the camera, gotten used to the ergonomics as well as button placement moreso now. Still.. you'd be surprised what a dud 7D can provide =D Canon | Sony | Panasonic | Tamron | Sigma

Re: Over-the-top-wide-angle
Sounds like a double edged sword Marcus. Hope it serves you well and looking forward to seeing more pictures from you.
