Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

POW - 29-12-09

The winner of POW is Surenj for his delightfully creative and beautifully executed portrait. This image is whimsical, musical and the lighting is just perfect. Other contenders and almost chosen were Fozzie for 'Power of concentration'....just goes to show he is still the catmaster. Geof M for 'leaf' ....I loved its simplicity. Murray Foote for 'amperes'...just perfect colours and beautiful technical quality. Adam Lee for his B&W conversion street shots and Stubbsy for 'Machine #1' at Cockatoo Island for its texture and composition. Well done all!

Thanks Matt and the boys for your kind words. I am honoured to be on the front page!!

I found that the focus was slightly off on this one however. :D Taught me a lesson trying to focus on the dark. Perhaps I should get the modelling lights working on my strobes!
