MHD,
Have as many as you like. That may be the only way I will make it into the placings with such excellent shots in this comp. Thanks for all your efforts hosting the comp again. Cheers Dean I intend to live forever. So far, so good.

congratulations mate... a very well deserved win.....
congrats to everyone else also... i think we've raised the competition entries dramatically... cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
Rocstar and Glen,
Both of you have to make yourself free next Saturday at the mini meet for the first and second prize, no excuse please! The Admins will be in to observe the awards. Bring along your original files so I can print out and preserve them for Forum's collection. Last edited by birddog114 on Fri Mar 04, 2005 9:19 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Congrats Rokkstar, Glen & Link!
Congratulations to everyone else for their excellent entries. Well done! Let’s hope we have even more participant in the next round.
Well done to all entrants...
The top 5 were roughly what I expected, not in any particular order... Congratulations on some really spectacular images guys... Oh... Rokkstar... I voted for frame it and sell it... and if you frame it, I'll buy one to hang on my wall... I love that image... (price to be negotiated...) The first surprise is that there were only 33 voters... No more than the number of entrants... I would have expected more members to vote... The second surprise was the lack of entries from prominent members of the forum... You know who you are... I'll expect to see you in the next competition... The third and possibly most significant surprise is that my paltry offering ranked so highly... After submitting it, I reconsidered and didn't think that it was exactly on theme... I almost withdrew it when I saw some of the later entries... Maybe I should just learn to trust my taste and instinct... It was good to be part of this comp... Can't wait for the next one... Pick a good subject Rokkstar... Congrats to all concerned.
And (as you can probably surmise) we've just returned from a great night, with great company, meeting and dining with about 15 of our Melbourne members. It was a very convivial evening, and everyone seemed to have a great time. I know that Leigh and I certainly did. The only (very minor) disappointment for me was that I wasn't able to present the winner with his prize; that will need to wait till next week back in Sydney. g.

Just don't point it at me, please, Sir. I've tried to analize the votes but alas, impossible. Just goes to show the variety on this site. That said I believe the 1st three places were deserving winners. I know nutzinc
Well done Rockstar. Top image, enjoy the new lens and to Glen well deserved placing. And third place link - still my personal favourite.
Everyone did a fantastic job with the entries. I loved the standard of the images in the comp. Thanks again to Scott, birddog and all the site admin who team together to make these fantastic and friendly competitions possible --- Long Live the D70 Challenge Series --- Craig
Congratulations to all concerned, specially Rockstar and Glen. Great comp.
Interesting observation, there were at least 6 entrants that didn't give themselves a top score. Can't wait to see what the next subject is. __________

The quality of entries was excellent overall. I mean more than technical excellence too, some really great thought went in to those images. I am not sure if I can keep up with this!!!

Rokkstar, Glen congratulations to both of you. Very deserving winners in what was a very high quality field. Just shows what we're all capable of when we're forced to be creative. For me (as mentioned previously) the only real surprise was the low number of voters, but I'm guessing connectivity problems may have played a part in this.
Look forward to seeing the winners and their entires up close & personal at birddog's next Saturday. Peter

Thanks guys,
I'll be there Birddog, dont you worry, and I'll have along with me some beers for a good ole toast. Looking forward to meeting you all at last and also having a little play with that beautiful little lens. So thats on the 12th March is it? Where exactly is your place Birdy? I must just say congratulations to everyone else who entered and to Glen for second place. It was a tough challenge and when looking at all the entries that were entered thought it was going to be a very close call. I'm racking my brains at the moment for something as challenging as that but its more difficult than I first thought. My first thought was "Bikini beach volleyball" but my girlfriends frown changed my mind. I'll get back to MHD in the next day with something taxing. Cheers again guys Matt
Congratulations to both Rokkstar and Glen! Well done, this challenge was very interesting with so many interpretations of a "different perspective". Also a big thank you to MHD for putting up the gallery up and Birddog & Louiek for the prizes; it all makes for a very entertaining competition!
Link.
Congratulations to Rokkstar and Glen. You are worthy winners.
Thank you to Birdie and Louiek for your generous prizes Thank you to Scott for all the hosting work he did And thanks to Gary and Leigh for keeping this hosting site alive and well And wasn't the standard of individual entries absolutely awesome? Cheers Graham
Not that I'm that prominent, but I didn't get really excited about the theme, and my ideas, to me, weren't original enough. Bottom line, I couldn't get off my lazy butt. I honestly tried to vote but I really couldn't figure it out. Like the login was gone. I'm surprised at how many people voted below average. There are some terrific photos on there, some of which are given the lowest rating, including the winner. I wish that the people who voted that way would state the reason why they did. I think that it would help everyone understand photography and critique better. It's not disdain, I respect everyone's opinion, but just curiosity as in many I don't see anything that is that bad.
The theme was a hard one! And there is one thing shown to me over the course of the three comps: I dont neet to police adherence to the theme as the voters punish anyone they dont think adheres to the theme... I think that when people vote they give big points to the ones that creatively exhibit the theme
I'll take some screen shots for next time to make voting absolutely crystal clear New page

Re: Your comment about some votes being below average - may I comment on that. I think most would agree that the theme is a difficult interpretation. I took my interpretation of the theme into account when I voted and whilst there are some terrific shots there, I marked down those shots which I considered were inconsistent with the theme and gave good marks to those that, in my view, were in accord with the theme. Mind you, my entry is third last, so perhaps that is telling me that either I'm a crook photographer (true! ) of that my entry badly interpreted the theme (probably also true! ) Cheers Graham
Yes, I guess to summarize my point a little more simply, I think it would do the photog and the voter some good to explain a poor mark, giving the photog a something to think about for his shots, and the voter would have a good reason as to marking it where he did. If it were my photo, I would be wondering why when most thought it was a pretty good photo.
Bago, I was the same in the last comp. Anything that seemed a stretch from the theme I voted low, anything that was thematic, but not great was in the middle, and the thematic ones with the most profound image was the highest.
