Planet Bubble II

My second try at this bubble planet project. The light tent did not work as expected so shelved that idea fairly early on and returned back to a similar set up to that I originally had. This time the light was brought closer to the subject, I uesd a whiskey tumbler in lieu of the coffee jar and the results were much better IMHO. I am amazed at the diversity of colours and patterns that can be seen and captured. Here are a few from the latest shoot, its very difficult choosing which to post due to the diversity of appearance.

The grey portion on top of the bubble appears just prior to the bubble bursting.


This pic has not been converted to B&W, as the bubble reaches it's maturity the colours diminish, a fraction of a second after the shot the this bubble was no longer.






And one of the setup this time around. I think an overhead light may be in order next time and as Manta suggested in the last thread some black card under the glass.

He lives in Mount Tamborine (and nooo I'm not stalking you thats according to your profile lol) which is the land of the tourist coffee shop and galleries.. and actually I think thats some really sound advice you've given there Gary.. the images are simply stunning and I suspect they would be fantastic sellers!! (seriously considering stalking you now though to see your set up!)..

Seriously, the mountain galleries would be a great outlet for these. My late father-in-law used to sell a swag of paintings through them and there was always such a diverse crowd looking through so all kinds of tastes can be accommodated. I reckon these would appeal to a lot of people who naturally flock to the mountain. Go for it Geoff and let us know how you get on!

WOW...looks like your getting better at this, I cant decide on a favourite here. I would get some printed and hung to display though. PS. Sue it is good to have you back and posting, I am sure i am not the only one who misses your comments

Yes I do live on Tamborine Mountain, where there are a number of galleries and cafes which I do intend to approach. Infact one particular road has been unofficially named 'Gallery Walk' due to the number of outlets which all cater to the tourism industry. I am a member of the local chamber of commerce too (I operate a business on the mountain), and this may be an opportunity for exposure also. I also know the owner of a local restaurant which has facilities which could possibly be used as a gallery, so think I may approach them first to see if I can arrange an exhibition of prints for sale.

I have printed a couple up at A2 and they do look good, even though I do say so myself.

I will let you know how it goes.

An update folks.....I have approached a number of galleries and cafe's with a view to displaying framed prints for sale. Of those I approached, selecting ones with suitable wall space, they said they loved them (plus other genres in my portfolio) but none were prepared to offer me the opportunity

That was until yesterday, an exsisting cafe, recently taken over by new owners are quite excited about the prospect. After a couple of meetings yesterday, they have allocated me a wall of approx 2m x 3.5m to display my work. They want to see local scenery images and also some of the bubble planets. They also are going to let me have a 'portfolio folder' on display to promote other genre's of imaging. It was very refreshing to see such genuine enthusiasm.

So needless to say I am in the process of selecting some images, printing, cutting mats, framing etc. and working out some prices . Not sure where the price point should be Oh and the owner wants 30% of the sale, which I think is quite reasonable

Anyways, I hope to have something displayed by next weekend and hopefully some sales may come my way
