Sydney Fire Night? EOI - Jan 29th Bondi Beach??

Postby aim54x on Wed Jan 13, 2010 10:55 am

Hey guys,

Just sent out some messages to my friends that play with fire and have had a pretty good response from an individual level as to a willingness to have a SMALL group come and take photos, even if it is not a full blown SURCAS (USYD Circus Society) fire night. So I just need an EOI for such an event. At the moment I think we should be aiming for after Australia day.

In terms of the cost, I think it is only fair to provide copies of images for the performers (I am offering this) and if it is not going to be a SURCAS event, then it would be appreciated if we chip in for Kerosene for the performers (their main cost). I am open to other suggestions as well.

Let me know

After playing with the flash plus long exposure technique NYE, I'd love to give it a go with such cool subjects if scheduling allows! Happy to bring along some Kerro or chip in and of course provide some images to the participants.

Well with this sort of response, I think I will have to limit numbers to something reasonable...probably no more than 4-6 would be ideal, but I will consult the ppl that have volunteered and see what they say.

-BigGerry
-Dviv

-Mozzie
-Leek
-CraigVTR (so long as dates are between 27/1 and 1/2)

Postby aim54x on Fri Jan 15, 2010 1:09 am

UPDATE:

It appears that there will be a fire night that some of my USYD SURCAS friends will be going to that we may be able to crash.

For details head to http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=233003760937&index=1 (hope that works)

As it is a friday night I may not be able to go...so I am also trying to organise something else with my friends.

Cheers

Whitey I think you will make the cut, the beauty of this event is that it is very open.....so we can probably crash with a slightly larger group....

HOWEVER, I think I will be trying to organise another outing with another smaller group (of ppl I know well) but I was offered this meet first so i would say lets do it. I will have to sort out final numbers for this soon though.

Just a heads up....my friend has been organising an exclusive event for us detailed here:
http://dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=38471

I will be using the list at the top of this post as a priority list for this other event (I think it is only fair as this other event is being organised especially for us rather than crashing an existing event). For those who can make both...well then you can have a double dose of fire.

For people that are interested in fire twirling photography but cannot make either event i will be keeping a close eye on SURCAS fire nights and pass on details when we can join in, so there will be plenty of fire to capture over this next year.
