Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

John, you have in the past few months posted some beautiful shots, both of necked ladies and fully clothed.

But this shot has absolutely nothing going for it. Awkward pose, hopeless lighting and sitting on a sofa.

You have artistic talent John but this shot lets you down.

Sorry mate

Oh... OK... Thanks Chris...

Completely different feedback to that I've received from other forum members and members of other forums, but thanks anyway... :-)

Could you maybe elaborate on the hopeless lighting and awkward pose parts of your comment?
Cheers, John

Looks good to me - very natural and almost "unposed" with that nice B&W film feel.

Do you reckon you could put together a bit of a tutorial on hopeless lighting and awkward posing - I'd check it out for sure!! :P

JOhn
I thought this shot looked a bit strange especially compared to your other work, there are two points that I think give me that impression.

1 Her torso is in deep shadow and difficult to see. Almost looks to me as if her middle bit :) is missing.
2 Her left foot looks detatched from the ankle making it look a bit odd.

However, the lady is a lovely subject tactfully posed and I see no problem with the lounge.

Hope my impression is helpful.

Sorry if I was too harsh John but I was comparing this shot to the many others you have posted. I believe Craig has hit the nail on the head with the missing middle torso and the very unnatural look of her left foot.

If I had to use just two words to describe this shot they would be, lacks atmosphere, which many of your other shots have an abundance of.
