Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Warriors of Brazil

Warriors of Brazil is a Capoeira and brazillian cultural celebration showing at the Theatre Royal
ive been shooting alot of theatre and dance and been trying to work out what focus method is better dynamic area with 3d tracking or single focus point which requires focus point twiddling i miss shot opportunities with both techniques
but this time i shot single area focus, somehow didn't trust nikons dynamic area as it's a bit slow in low light and when the subject is juxtaposed against a high contrast messy background

Nice shots given the difficult conditions, but not taking away from the photography I'm more impressed by the physiques of the performers/athletes. Wow, they are ripped!

Wendell, amazing work especially in difficult conditions.

I have to agree that #3 is great, #1 is close behind though!

I saw this performance last night, 4 rows back from the front. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Wendell, your shots are amazing given the lighting and fast moving performers.

No# 2 then No# 4 for me.

I don't know if this would work, but I was thinking last night I would have tried focusing in the middle of the stage and selected a higher F stop for greater DOF and switched to manual focusing. Then just shot away.

P.S. Did I mention these guys were fast.

Lol, I agree, buff as! I bet these chaps are a hit with the ladies :up: :up:

They are some good shots Wendell, especially given the lighting - iso1600 on the D3 ( i assume) is lookign awesome....

The first and third images are winners for me, the positions and facial contact work well for me.
