Nikon D3s vs Canon 1D Mark IVA good comparison between two great systems, specifically for sports photography. It isn't really a "my system is better then yours" which is good to read.

Re: Nikon D3s vs Canon 1D Mark IVAndré,
Thanks. That's a great article, well written and neutral, and accompanied by some raw files that permit you to judge, for yourself, the files produced by either camera. g.

Re: Nikon D3s vs Canon 1D Mark IVGreat article, one presumably produced in the same style as Fox News - Fair & Balanced!
One thing that came to mind reading this, when considering the crop versus full-frame debate for very long telephoto users is this: a cropped camera can, ceteris paribus, save you big dollars. Comparing the Nikon 400 2.8 to the 300 2.8 [both IF ED VR], a camer with AP-C style sensor can allow the photographer to use, say, the 300 and achieve a perceived similar (in fact longer) reach than the full-frame with the 400, and, in doing so, save $4,500! Obviously, there are other issues, such as DOF and the like, to consider, but interesting nevertheless. Regards, Patrick

Re: Nikon D3s vs Canon 1D Mark IVPatrick,
I did notice that price difference. Not to be picky, but the reach is actually very close as the Canon as a 1.3 crop sensor, so that give you 390mm Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution. Ansel Adams

Re: Nikon D3s vs Canon 1D Mark IV
Ah, yes, but I was imperceptably referring to shooting only with Nikon where the choices are full-frame or 1.5x crop. The price difference between the Canon & Nikon lens prices referred to in the article are what piqued my interest. Regards, Patrick

Re: Nikon D3s vs Canon 1D Mark IVGreat article - thanks for posting.
As the others have said - it's nice to read a balanced article for a change Nikon are really kicking butt in the high ISO stakes with that D3 sensor. It will be interesting to see the next iterations of these cameras so see if Canon improve the noise, and Nikon improve the AF. It would be good if both could improve the price.... All good for the consumer in the end 7D, 60D, 70-200mm f/4LIS, 17-50mm f/2.8, 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5, 50mm f/1.4, 100mm f/2.8 Macro, 580EX II
