Mellow sunset colours

I live near this location and managed to catch a few sunsets. I feel that these are still missing something though.

that second pano is the perfect backdrop for a prime subject, like, say a boat or wharf! when I get my sixty footer I will sail her up there for ya (just could be a awhile thats all)

The more I look at it the more i like! the colours tones are very very nice...

clone out the tower as it looks out of place

however I feel there are too many dark areas here and no main subject to draw my eye, a silhouette figure would be a great addition?

I'm pretty sure the tower in the first one is actually the mast of the boat, so if it was cloned out the boat would probably have to go as well, which to me would take away a point of interest.

I think the issue with it is too much black. I'd like to see it but with you closer to the tree line, so we have the entire view framed by just a couple of trees, rather than blocked to this extent. There is then the issue of what is the subject, I think as mentioned above for image two, it needs a boat or a wharf in the foreground.

#2 is a stunning vista, great colours, great lights from the building and even the moon. At first look I really liked it, but as I look more I wonder if it needs something in close, the aforementioned boat perhaps. Having said that, I suspect viewed large it would stand as is... I'm just not sure!
Either way technically it's brilliant.

Well done surenge, in partcular the second shot. It's one of the better shots of seen of the Lake. Having seen numerous shots of a Lake Mac cluttered with boat masts, it's refreshing to see this clean and somewhat minimalist version.
Foreshore of Lake Macquarie at either Warners Bay or on Valentine road? The Casuarinas and Lomandra tell me Warners Bay.

Thanks Tommy, I thought about it but wasn't sure whether it was worth the trouble!! Haven't been particularly inspired lately.

Dude, Game on. While you are at it, I would want you to hold it still for 73 seconds while I do my exposure. Maybe we will just use a few speedlites eh?

This is what I felt about these images. Kinda borderline.

Just turned up at 1945 and setup and spoke to a few drunk tourists and intermittently started and stopped exposure. Wish I had a beer as well....

I'm going to go against the grain and say that I really, really like #1 and the amount of black/silhouette you've captured in it. It makes me more drawn to the type of plants in the framing (Allocasuarinas and Lomandras?). Also, it's a type of 'framing' that is more bold than often seen and I like it!

Yes, I agree that I would take out the boat but that's because I prefer landscapes without the incursion of man-made items.

Very nice, both of them. Lovely colours and light effects.
Obviously, you were looking for a sihoutte and you got it.
Wheather it is too mach black or too lettle is a matter of
taste, I guess. I am a bit more concerned with the balance
though. I would try to balance the shadow and light of the
let and right. To do this, I would crop out the tree on the
left edge and get it more to look like the right.

I was trying to make the 'negative space' stand out in this one as the sunset colors weren't spectacular by itself.
