Rob - from what I have seen posted I admit the lens is great but I would give you more kudos because you are the photographer and you have a knack for getting great pics.

-------------------------------- I started my life with nothing and I’ve still got most of it left
Excellent focus & exposure. A very good image.
This is very easy to say and much harder to do, but I think this shot would have been outstanding if taken a moment earlier. If the players were still competing for the ball, there would be much more tension in the shot, but here the ball is safely in the goalie's hands. Also, his arms are now obstructing his face. I guess that's why the top sports photogs use their rapid-fire capabilities! It also shows just how difficult sports photography is. That critical moment is very, very elusive. But please don't be disappointed by my comments rob - they are meant to encourage you to keep trying in this genre. I'm sure your images will keep improving, and you certainly have the hardware for the job.
thanks for the comments, i was dissapointed his face was blocked as well but it was a visiting team from adelaide so as long as i got the local boy i was happy... yes the frame rate per second is a bit dissapointing, but then when i got the d70 i wasnt going to do sports photography until local paper asked me to do weekend work i told them i would prefer the sports only as i'm a bit shy so i dont do the social stuff.... going to 21st and engagements that sort of thing, again thanks for the constructive criticism was good
cheers rob
nice shot!
and great gig! New page

I think somebody needs to tell the boy in yellow that this is soccer (or as les murray says feeewtball) and that your hands aren't used at all unless you're a keeper. Perhaps he thought he was at Aussie Rules training.
