550D vs 7DI'm actually amazed that the 550D held up so well!
Seeing as I don't have the money to throw around, it's tempting to buy this as a primary shooter to have my 400d as a 2nd body... http://www.digitalrev.com/en/canon-eos- ... 44-article http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYif6YYV ... re=channel EDIT: By money to throw around, I mean there are TOO many things for me to buy at the moment
Re: 550D vs 7DHey Natskis!
The 550D is a GREAT body to get, but it has its restrictions as well, in regards of what I've compared personally? Both Have : HD Movie 18MP sensor ISO boost to 12800 Where the 550D wins: Image quality is slightly better in higher ISO's 1040K screen.. *drool* AF During Video ( which would most likely be improved later on) Where the 7D wins : Better processors ( 2 d!gic4 processors against 1) 8fps better weather sealing better AF system (19pts AF, newer AF drive to handle the hybrid IS lenses) Has a metal Lens Mount where the 550D has a plastic mount Canon's own version of Creative Lighting System Essentially.. i guess its what you need rather than what you want. I WANT a 1D Mark IV... but i could only afford a 7D by a hair's length. I'd still recommend the 7D for yourself, using a 400D it uses the CF cards which to me, ar ea lot more stable than the SD cards, plus you have the availability to get faster cards at your disposal. Re: 550D vs 7DIt all depends on what you are shooting and how much you do. The 7D is a much more robust responsive camera but if you are shooting static scenes it is not going to matter, if sports then yes.

Re: 550D vs 7DIf you considering a primary camera (While you own a 400D), this might not be a good enough upgrade. What do you intend to do with the primary camera?? Perhaps get better lenses? BTW the digitalrev article is relatively poor. It is interesting that image quality came up better in the 550D though.
Re: 550D vs 7DAfter lotsa thought... I def need more glass...
I'm wanting to shoot some weddings and also sports so I think it'll be all about getting some more versitile glass and then think about upgrading the body... by the time I get around to upgrading the body, i'm sure there'll be something else out that will tickle my fancy
Re: 550D vs 7D
You've said the two magic words. =D Get yourself a 7D (or an old 40D if you just want images). You can't afford buffer speed when shooting any of the two. But with that being said, buffering speed is also quite a luxury. But with that being said, its up to end user, will you use the 550D in 5 years time? what will the 550D be doing in 5 years time? do you think you'll upgrade in 5 years time? waht will serve better purpose for you ? all in all.. its a vast question, but in terms of the benefits of a 7D... put simply.. You'll know how to use a pro series and pick up using a pro series quicker than converging straight from a 400D. thats my advice anyways.. but its also my opinion =D GL Canon | Sony | Panasonic | Tamron | Sigma

Re: 550D vs 7DGreat article!
"Analysis Paralysis" - This applies to a LOT of stuff not just cameras "Let the nattering nabobs of negativity natter away. I'll be out shooting and driving. " Great quote
