b - a - d = sony

Postby Willy wombat on Wed Mar 17, 2010 3:56 pm

Did I miss something?

Just tried typing the word "bad" into a PM and noticed it is converted by the site to "Sony"

Did Sony piss off one of the admins?

This little trick doesnt seem to affect normal posts

From memory there are a few other words that do this

Is extreme (e x t re m e) still one?
Edit - No

Steve, without checking what I've actually set up, IIRC the trigger for this is the use of two words together ...

There is a phrase that needs to be banned from usage. It's horrendous, and it offends the sensibilities of many of our members. It requires the use of the words "my" and "bad" consecutively, together and in that sequence. That will trigger the word censor to automagically convert the phrase to something with pretty much a similar meaning, photographically speaking, that being "my Sony".

Basically, yes. :)

Sony make some truly great products, but when they make something that's bad, it's really, really, really bad.

See how well it works?

There's still a few tricks in the word censor, and from time to time they raise their heads and catch somebody out. It's actually quite amusing to sit back and watch the resulting mayem, which has occurred from time to time.

Yes, you're absolutely correct: I am a cruel bastard. :)

This sounds familiar..... I should probably take the blame (for Gary setting this up)......
