My First Wedding With D70

Well, what can I say, Hmmmmm I'm Alive

Thats the main thing, It was a very long day starting at around 3pm & going to 11.30 all in all everything went O.K

If I do one again I'll allow more time for Main Photos after ceremony.

I'd have the MC or make sure the Bride or Groom delegates a person to have the people ready for photos.

And shoot more at middle F Stops 5.6 / 8 etc etc

My D70 performed & stayed alive
My 17-55 lens performed well
My SB 800 performed well
My 180mm Nikkor Performed well

I'll post some images when I get a chance, now to do all the Post Processing.

It's a bloody BIG / RESPONSIBLE / NERVE RACKING EXPERIENCE

And this was a friends wedding

I have learn't a lot from it being with the Camera for that amount of time, But now I know what people have warned me about.
I didn't think it was going to be easy, but boy oh boy people you have to know your gear.

sleep well you earned it . Yes definitly alot of hard work goes into shooting a wedding. I'm sure you will have some really great images. Just wait until you see the tears in the brides eyes as you show her for the first time the memorys you helped capture for her - that makes it all worth it.

If she doesn't cry, just poke her in the eye, it should start to water then

Congrats mate! I can appreciate what it must of been like..

A mate of mine tossed my name to one of his friends recently to do his wedding on the cheap as he knew I am into my photography, he assured me that the couple was not that fussed about the results and I thought to myself yeah but what about my standards.

Would I expect someone to just take snaps at my wedding (of course not) So then I started thinking about all the gear I needed to get SB 800 other lenses etc and in the end I thought, hey I am going to go to all this expense to get the shots that I consider to be worthy for them and in the end they are still only wishing to pay peanuts? Fortunately for me I was away with my other work commitments which made me unavailable at the time.

I can remember the same "shit I hope I dont stuff this up!" feelings, not to mention the pressure of doing the right thing for a mate at the same time. All I can say is that I have much respect for you going through this, and happy to hear that your equipement didn't let you down ( another huge fear)

I am still recovering, but am slowly going through the shots now.

Wedding Photography Hmmmmm I'm still wondering if I will ever do it again.
But I'm sure once I have the finished Albums I might again venture where only Eagles Dare.

thats what i said after the first one, like yours my d70 was brilliant, but when another "mate" asks you to do his daughter/neice/son wedding cause he saw what good photo's you took ( cause you proudly showed him ) you just cant seem to say NO....
