I was there, Caves Beach cave and local'sMy take on the Sundance Caves beach shoot. Having been there before, I was more interested in a pano looking out. I was a little disappointed with my effort because of the lack of detail in the roof of the cave. On my next visit to this location I will be taking a Metz CT45 flash and lighting the roof just a tad......... anyhow a 3 Shot pano
one of the local's hunting for breakfast, and the Oyster Catcher was not happy his hunting was interrupted Cheers ....bp....

Re: I was there, Caves Beach cave and local'sBeautiful cave shot and I don't know whether I'd want too much detail on the roof as this would detract from the nice sunrise! No harm in trying anyways.
Didn't even notice these fellas!
I would be keen for this sort of lightpainting exercise. The easiest thing to do would be do the lightpainting before the sunrise and get the sunrise shot without moving the camera and combining the exposures. If you used flash, we could use a softbox on it to soften it up a little... thoughts?
Re: I was there, Caves Beach cave and local'sI would be shooting a 3 shot pano as above with flash fill. the flash will have a diffuser to spread the light and shooting at f22-f32 I will need as much power as possible as the interior will soak up the light making a soft balance between the interior and exterior...... just need some colour and shape in the roof and side areas..... I will be trying to do it as one 3 shot pano with flash fill on each exposure of the pano as a soft fill..... achievable
Cheers ....bp....

Fair nuf. That's much more simple than what I had in mind. I think a stofen would be good to bounce some light off the sand as well. The only problem would be that the 'middle' ground would be a bit dark compared to the fore and backgrounds.
Re: I was there, Caves Beach cave and local'sI love the cave shot, such sharp rays and nice clear sand. My only critique would be the exposure of the RHS image, the sand appears a bit to bright on this one, this could be due to the natural light tho. Even taking a slightly tighter crop would also work too imo.

No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.

I was thinking just that. Really wish I was able to come along to these shoots...now that I have started full time work I am going to find it even harder to get out and shoot Cameron
