PotW April 27 2010As always, picking the PotW is a challenging task.
Moreso this week, as it's Leigh's turn, but right now he's partying big time at Tip's in N'Awlins, and unless I'm very much mistaken, it'll be Trombone Shorty on stage. I'd probably choose Trombone Shorty too, but I don't think it's a valid option for the Picture of the Week. So, instead, I took some time to examine the various images posted, and there's one posted by Biggerry, in this thread that, putting it very simply, I like a whole lot. "Why?" I hear you ask. This image is striking in its simplicity: the subject is simplicity itself, the composition is nice (the bits of sand/stone on each side add a nice element of balance too), the setting is great, the colours are vibrant, and of course, I needn't mention the challenges Gerry would have faced in trying to capture this high speed animal, in full flight! Well done, Gerry. g.

Re: PotW April 27 2010ROFLMAO! Congrats Gerry. This needs to be canvassed and hanged on every gardeners home just to give them the hibbergibbies.

Re: PotW April 27 2010You mean to tell me you can take a picture like this without using a Canon? Great capture!
Canon
Re: PotW April 27 2010
believe it or not it was actually harder than it looks! these do move relatively fast...for snails anyway, couple this with one panting and heaving from the previous 100m metres, it becomes very rewarding to geta nice sharp image !
lol..and nightmares
I'll do ya a deal, ..trade ya ur canon for my stuff..
Re: PotW April 27 2010Way to go Gerry.

============= I agree with all the above. What I think is clever is how the animal is in colour and the background grey, without software manipulation. Congratulations!
